I was reading the NYC doctor that has been leading the charge and noticed that said that they are not doing autopsies but at this rate they do not have time. So with that the CDC has confirmed or presumed COVID deaths. I know they live on top of each other but may explain why NYC has almost half of the US deaths.
Really just wanted to see actual numbers of who, what, when, and where was happening.
CDC info
Total deaths - 9681
New York City alone - 4168
New York - 1493
Next closest state is New Jersey 593
So New York accounts for over 58% of the deaths and almost 10 times as high as any another state. Dang that place must be a huge cluster right now.
California has the most deaths from everything at 56,682 but only 349 COVID deaths compared to NYC at 18991 dead with 4168 COVID related. So 22% of those who died presumed to have died from COVID
Out of 9681 deaths only 12 people under 24 have died so 0.12%. Thankfully this is not like the Spanish flu that knocked out a lot of 18-35 year olds
Almost 60% of deaths are male, not a shocker here.
A little over 10% of deaths have occurred at nursing homes. With roughly 4.5% of the population living in nursing homes that is a huge percentage.
From this count the deaths by race are below
Asian - 5%
Black - 32%
Latino - 14%
White - 46%
Other - 3%
Compare that to race overall and you see this thing is hitting the black community hard, a few studies have shown 10-18% of the black population to have diabetes which may contribute to this. Compare that to 7-8% of white.
White - 76.5%
Black - 13.4%
Asian - 5.9%
Latino - 18.3%
