If you are out of work or know someone out of work because of the bug, I suggest leaning into the demand instead of waiting for your job to come back. I know its all doom and gloom out there but it doesn't have to be. Most of these jobs are not exactly college graduate material, but it may be useful information for some.

Who's Hiring

Small sample here.

Companies from industries spanning from technology to retail are hiring to meet increased demand caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Below is a regularly updated list of companies hiring right now.

I have a couple friends that have their kids working at FedEx, and FedEx is paying for their tuition (undergrad).
FedEx does it to reduce turnover. I don't know what locations do it, but given the cost of tuition, one could do a lot worse than working at FedEx.

Good job, OP.

For all the folks out of work and appear nightly on the news to complain, this is where they should look for jobs.

If you have a pulse your local supermarket will put you to work immediately.

If you need cash right now, take the temp job until the economy opens back up. This is called opportunity.

If you actually make $75 an hour, you are fortunate and I hope you've saved some of that up for a rainy day.

For most Americans, $15 an hour will go a good ways towards sustaining them during this brutal storm. Don't muck up what should be a positive thread telling us what's apparently below your standards.

Take care, and stay safe.

I'm not calling it great, or good. But it'll help. The median wage in the US is about $15/hour.

So if you are collecting unemployment for a high paying job, will you lose it if you take a lower paying job. I do not see the incentive unless you can't collect unemployment.

You're better off taking unemployment if you were making decent money.

Couple of go getters on here screwing up what should be a positive thread. If they aren't jobs that suit your needs why post?

Yeah these jobs aren't for everyone. But I'd imagine the millions of retail and restaurant workers who got laid off can all probably work in the warehouse or drive a delivery truck temporarily.

Exactly. Thanks for posting this thread. Hopefully it'll help some people out even if only temporarily.

Eventually the unemployment benefits run out, these positions are filled, and you're still sitting at home blaming everyone else.

My 18-year old son was just hired at an asphalt company yesterday for $15 an hour. Has a chance to get quick raises and bonuses, and boss said he would pay for CDL training in winter if he does a good job. It has been a long road for him to find anything, but blessed that he was able to.
