I look back at the stupidity of his actions at the time and his positive test. I wonder if that hadn't have happened if there would have been such a dominoe effect of strong responses.
Good that he and the others got it, shows that guys bounced right back.SoupNazi2001 said:

Spot on. I said the same thing last night at dinner.Detmersdislocatedshoulder said:

He just proves how irrelevant and useless pro sports are in our daily lives.

How did he prove that?

I believe it was 13 other NBA players that got it. All have recovered.

It was just a joke that turned out to be bad taste. Have to admit, at the time I laughed. He's fine, no one died b/c of him, and we have no proof he was patient zero in the NBA at all. People saying he is dumb or excited he had it b/c of his joke are over sensitive about it and are using the lens hindsight when the vast majority of us probably giggled after he did it initially.
Sounds like a personal preference thing rather than a sweeping reality. A lot of people miss sports, I know I do.Player To Be Named Later said:Seven Costanza said:You were previously unaware that you didn't care about pro sports?Player To Be Named Later said:A lot of us haven't missed any of them one damn bit.Seven Costanza said:UTExan said:

Sure, but now I'm even more aware of just how little I actually miss it.
Before this, it was "I bet I wouldn't miss it".... now I know I don't.
Speak for yourself. I would LOVE to be able to watch the Rangers play baseball tonight.Player To Be Named Later said:A lot of us haven't missed any of them one damn bit.Seven Costanza said:UTExan said:

I honestly didn't and still don't have an issue with what he did rubbing the mics. At the time no one here for the most part knew how easily it could spread and he had no clue he had it. It was just a joke that turned out to be bad taste. Have to admit, at the time I laughed. He's fine, no one died b/c of him, and we have no proof he was patient zero in the NBA at all. Again, we are talking about a virus that 97-98% of us won't be much more affected by than he was. Heck, I didn't think he even needed to apologize at all. Our society is too sensitive sometimes.

How do you know no one died because of it? You have no idea who he spread it to that then spread it to other people that may have died. An NBA player's mom died.
Now I get that he didn't do it on purpose so he shouldn't be crucified. But looking back on it shouldn't be that oh the way he acted was no big deal. It was disrespectful even if was just any random sickness IMO.

While I'm glad they did, I feel like the fact that elite athletes recovered from something doesn't necessarily translate as meaningful to the most of the population.Aust Ag said:Good that he and the others got it, shows that guys bounced right back.SoupNazi2001 said:

Good point. And I hope so.Aust Ag said:
But it's meaningful for getting sports back.
