Stephens County, a small county in north central Texas, was selected for a somewhat randomized testing program through the National Guard. The results from 99 nasal swab tests yielded all negatives for Covid-19. Only one person per household was allowed to be tested.

There has only been one positive case in Stephens County prior to the testing program. There are approximately 9400 people residing in the county, so about 1% of the population was tested.

Stephens County had a very aggressive shelter-in-place policy.

That's probably because Mary's closed just in time. If Mary's hade stayed open and sold CFS for another week, 70% of the people in a Stephens and each adjacent county would be positive.

Canyon Road Bar and Grill is a great place to eat, also. Both places are off the beaten path.

Always stop by Mary's when going out west. Best Chicken Fried Steak I've ever had. And the whole population of Strawn would have COVID if someone infected showed up for Sunday lunch after church.

They did this in Wharton county last weekend. They did testing for anyone feeling ANY symptoms or at high risk. They didn't even have enough takers to use the tests to they opened it up to anyone that wanted it. 100% free testing.

No positives.

Nasal swabs.

Ok, now do antibody or serum testing to see if it's gone through.

I hope it has gone through...otherwise due to the strict shelter in place and no vaccine they have no immunity. I still believe (as I posted in early March) we'd have been better off with only sheltering in place the most vulnerable and placing safeguards (albeit minimal) everywhere else. If the purpose of the shelter in place is to slow the spread, it seems like we need SOME spread if for no other reason than to begin to get herd immunity. A lockdown, especially where no cases are present, doesn't appear prudent.

What's stupid? The randomized testing, the result, or what?

The fact that they were aggressively sheltering in place
