How long do you want to ignore this user?
- Our family was exposed to covid on 6/21.
- We've quarantined since then
- Wife tested positive on 6/25
- 8 yr old tested positive on 6/29
- 13 yr old and I tested Negative on 6/29
- None of us have any symptoms.

My question is when can/should we return to society?

CDC:

Quote:

I think or know I had COVID-19, and I had symptoms

You can be with others after
  • 3 days with no fever and
  • Respiratory symptoms have improved (e.g. cough, shortness of breath) and
  • 10 days since symptoms first appeared

I tested positive for COVID-19 but had no symptoms

If you continue to have no symptoms, you can be with others after:
  • 10 days have passed since test

Per the CDC guidelines: 10 days after first symptoms and 3 days with improving symptoms and no fever. You can take it one step further and get two negative tests in a 24 hour period, but per the advice of doctors and CDC that is not really needed since you could hypothetically test positive a month later and not be contagious.

I've wondered this as well. 10 days from symptoms for the wife, but what happens when the husband gets it 6-8 days later from the wife

Call your doctor today. Ask the person you regularly trust with your family's health.

We were exposed to a positive person. Nobody in our family tested positive. 3 different PCPs, from different practices, told us to quarantine for 14 days from exposure, due to the incubation period. Meaning just because we test negative today doesn't mean we won't test positive tomorrow...

One dr. now believes that you are not contagious unless you have fever or symptoms. Our other Dr. said 14 days from exposure unless symptoms arise.

Well, sounds like you are free and clear on both accounts. Today is day 15 from 6/21.

For the + on 6/29, they can return to normal on 7/9.

10 days after the positive test.

Please know that I am not saying you are wrong...

I just wanted to point out that part of the problem is 3 docs give 3 different pieces of advice.

10 days after positive test??
I thought it was 10 days after last symptom.
What if they tested positive and showed no symptoms and then started showing them around day 8 and continued to show on day 9. Are you ok with them being around people?

Per the CDC guidance listed above...it is 10 days since FIRST symptoms AND 3 days since no fever/respiratory symptoms (or at least improvement in the respiratory symptoms).

You can be with others after
  • 3 days with no fever and
  • Respiratory symptoms have improved (e.g. cough, shortness of breath) and
  • 10 days since symptoms first appeared

3 different doctors will have 3 different opinions on ANY illness at ANY time.

Just saying.
