To me, she sounds like a contrarian whose conclusions don't pass the smell test, but I'd love to have other physicians' comments. Thanks in advance.

I got as far as her schrodinger's cat argument against masks.
Mask cause you to rebreath viruses and pollen and that is bad. But masks block viruses and bacteria thereby weakening you immune system, also bad.

I am also confused why millions and millions of dollars have been spent on ppe and developing technologies and processes to reuse ppe if the virus dies in minutes at 70 degrees.
So either she means 70c and is intentionally misleading people by implying that "it will go away with the heat and humidity " or she is an idiot that doesnt realize that 70c is 158f (which is the temp that is recommended for decontamination of n95s) but has zero bearing on a normal humans day to day life.
Even scarier thought is her working the ER when one comes in with a life threatening issue.Duncan Idaho said:

No, but they have published many articles related to the ineffectiveness of masks long before it became a political football.

An article like that today would have been thrown out, except that this article was consistent with most all other studies prior to Covid 19.
Search pub Med for any masks article prior to Nov 2019 and they will say the same. Science did not magically improve in the last 8 months that we can definitively say "masks work" end of story. Yet everybody seems to be.

CDC, WHO had this stance long before Covid and changed because people cried foul. Same with the AAP backtracking on schools opening. We have gone from trust the science, to use the science to push our message and if you don't like the science then just appeal to the emotions, the opposite of "using" science
Those statements always hinge on what "under control" means. That's a sliding scale.aggiematt07 said:

"Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said he believes the pandemic could be brought under control over the next four to eight weeks if "we could get everybody to wear a mask right now."
Statements like this are just a ridiculous. Without a vaccine, this virus is here to stay. Want to do something that is meaningful. Look at the science. Lose weight, exercise, eat right, don't smoke and stop drinking. Short of that, we are all just waiting for the inevitable. It's the science we have and can act on but all we want to talk about is the healthy 30 something that dies. That's the outlier not the norm.

Docs, the internet is loaded with info from places like NIH, WHO, CDC that allow a lay person to gain more insight than you might have. Y'all should consider looking into these sources.

Improper use of masks by the public (reusing, touching face, poor for, random materials) was a big reason for the original stance of not recommending masks
Gave a false sense of security
Unreal. Questioning the knowledge / database of docs posting on this forum. Like InfectionAg, I am an "expert" on this virus. Do I claim/want to be no? Hell no. The circumstances have mandated it. I have read more than I want to. To the point of obsession. Belittling an obvious learned ID doc about COVID blows my mind. And explains we are in the **** show of status re the virus in this country now.Old RV Ag said:Yet, you seemed to have gained more medical knowledge in the last few weeks than all the doctors on here.aggiematt07 said:
