why diminishing antibodies dont mean decreased immunity

makes sense to me, at least. i was super concerned about the antibodies disappearing and now ive learned that its a non-issue. Antibodies are tested for in vaccine testing because the presence of antibodies mean that the B-lymphocytes that created them must therefore be there. When antibodies go away that doesn't mean anything, as the B-lymphocytes chill out until the virus returns and voila, they begin producing the antibodies again and that is the immunity we want.
From what I've read, if the virus mutates significantly, it also loses it's virility/leathality.

I don't doubt that decreased antibodies might not mean decreased immune response, because of "memory" in the cells. I will, say, however, that when we're forced to use metaphors, it shows we're at the limit of our understanding. Cells don't "remember" stuff.

It can't possibly be literal. I'm not doubting that the cells do something like remember, but they don't literally remember. They have no consciousness.

I guess since we aren't currently fighting about masks or something else, we can argue about semantics and technicality of words used.
Yeah, I think most of us know intuitively that cells don't "remember" in a cognitive way...... also, most of us know what is meant when you say the cells "remember".

It is truly remarkable how God has designed our bodies in such intricate detail that we have a lot of natural protection for fighting off a virus. Not saying we don't suffer any repercussions or sometimes even death, but the fact that we are able to survive after being exposed to so much bacteria and viruses in this world is amazing to me.
I'm not trying to argue about anything, and i agree with what you wrote here. I was just struck by the use of memory, commented on it, and then started getting corrected and being called negative. (Although, I really don't think I do know what is meant by saying cells remember. I do know what is meant by saying computers remember. I think ALL of us would make this a better forum if we just stopped seeing fights in every issue here.
Probably what makes me the most sad in ALL of this is just where this country is right now. When I was a kid, this country would have united to fight this thing..... now we just fight about everything.

That's large part why I said "all of us". And there has been plenty of positive news I have not "shot down".
Already giving up my Premium sub because I'm disappointed this place is becoming not a whole lot different than Facebook/Twitter/Instagram. Even more disappointed in myself that I let myself get caught up in the arguments.

The one common denominator is that all of us are stressed about all of this.
End of the day though, a bunch of random strangers *****ing at each other on the internet and changing nobody's minds is unlikely to change a damn thing. It will however accomplish a bunch of people just not really liking each other down the road.

Yeah, I could tell you all about that with my last 18yrs at work. Still haven't decided if social media is the cause or a reflection. Really though, that probably is irrelevant. Somehow this country has to start working together to tackle serious issues instead of just fighting about all of it.cone said:
