Interesting data.
The 10-12 grade schools were closed during this study though, right? I think they were closed until mid-June.

Yep.

However, Tegnell has said that if he had to do it over he would have kept the older schools and universities open.

I teach high school and I'm ready to go back. We are set to open in person with only about 10-12% of our students doing remote learning. That means we will have about 2,300 or so kids on campus. I'll probably come in contact with 1/4-1/3 of those kids daily. I'm not worried. Online learning while it has its good points is Certainly not a good replacement for in person.

It's easy for teachers to say "no" when they still get paid. It's hard for restaurant servers, grocery store workers, etc to say no when the answer is "you don't get paid". This is all BS. Teachers were given the option to selectively social distance and they are taking advantage of it and ignoring the facts - because they get paid regardless. Follow the money.

Yeah no sympathy here. My husband and I come into contact with thousands of people a day. Our coworkers are catching this disease left and right. Hell one of my direct partners is at home waiting on test results and she is someone I talk to every day. Neither of us complain and neither of us are scared. We love what we do and we are essential so we do what we have to. If teachers want to consider what they do essential then get back to work. If we dont really need you then that doesn't bode well for your future. That being said I think there are exceptions for the immunocompromised and pregnant and other high risk type persons....they can do other things or help with the online learning. Also between my store and my husbands store no one has gotten seriously ill. They have all been minor colds. I'm not saying this isn't serious for some but for regular healthy middle aged to young adults this thing is in all honesty pretty mild.

Yes, teachers will die. Maybe even dozens around the country. It still won't be as many as healthcare workers. Restaurant employees have died, grocery store employees have died, factory workers have died. We're in a pandemic, people are going to die. I feel like some teachers are detached from reality. It's easy to criticize when you have a guaranteed paycheck. If it's really about the children first, then there shouldn't even be a debate.
Dumb take.

Both my folks are teachers and my wife is a teacher. I care about my family more than the education of other people's children. I don't want my wife catching covid, dying, and leaving my three young kids motherless. I understand the odds of death are very low. But the odds of her obtaining the virus are not as low.

It's easy to play "people will die card" until it impacts your immediate family.

I am over 70. I know of two others at my campus who are similar in age and while I don't have that numberof 60, I do know that we were told by an admin survey on our campus that 30 percent are over 55. Now we self identitied our age in the google survey and did not have to reply. Some people are not honest about their age, expecially women. But our campus data was pretty close to what we know are state averages.

It's easy for you to keep generalizing. We aren't all of the same mindset just like any other profession isn't. Unfortunately we are a profession with a ton of lib tards involved but stop lumping us all together.
