Not sure if people are posting when they test positive, but thought I'd let you all know in case anyone has questions. If this is cluttering the board then feel free to delete.

I'm a 34 year old male in relatively good health. Have been extra careful as I had a partial colon removal surgery in December that went wrong and resulted in two extra surgeries (three total between December and February). Also had a heart ablation done on 6/30 of this year to fix afib (irregular heartbeats).

Not sure where I got it from but started feeling run down on Wednesday. Also tied one on pretty good Tuesday night so was thinking it was a hangover (drank at home with gf).

Main symptom was just being tired until probably Friday when I started to have a little bit of a scratchy throat and congestion.

Thought it was probably a cold or allergies As I got a runny nose and had a couple glasses of whiskey Friday and Saturday.

Today was first day I really didn't feel great. Probably wouldn't have gotten tested (was still thinking it was a cold) but my girlfriend is supposed to go on family vacation this coming weekend and is scared about giving it to her parents. Thought I'd be nice and test negative so she wouldn't worry.

Weird thing is she went and got tested right after I found out I was positive and she tested negative. This is after her spending the night at my apt all weekend.

Not sure which test it was but we got them at frontline ER In Dallas by white rock lake. Waited in car for 15 minutes and they bring results to you.

Will try to answer any questions if y'all got em.

Rule #1 protected since I've potentially given her covid and knocked her out of a family vacation.

Where do you think you contracted it?

"Weird thing is she went and got tested right after I found out I was positive and she tested negative. This is after her spending the night at my apt all weekend."

If she also did the rapid antigen (15 minute) test, then it's possible she had a false negative.

That's a concern with the antigen tests.

Likely you contracted it first and she will test positive in a couple days.

Bro, if you're on the covid forum looking for pictures of women, you might want to get a handle on your life.

Interesting, so many people lately that I've heard stories from say they thought they had a cold, but just about everyone (8 people I can think of right now) who have had it said it started like a cold.

My family has a cold going around but we traveled and a person we were with last week tested positive, we were definitely exposed.

Two of us did the 15 minute tests like you did and both came back negative, but my son, who had the most COVID like symptoms (cough, fever, headaches, diarrhea, fatigue), we also sent off to the lab and are waiting results... so far we are at 8 days waiting, so darn frustrating.

You should read up on the 15 minute tests. They have few false positives but a lot of false negatives. If your GF has any symptoms, she probably has it, too.

I'll be interested in your progress.

Hope you feel ok and knock it out quickly!

Interesting thread because I picked up on 2 things that you hear a lot, and this isn't directed at you.

1) People take precautions but have no idea where they picked it up. This either indicates you can get it no matter how safe you try to be when you go out, people think they are being safer than they actually are or people don't want to admit they didn't follow the safety rules thoroughly because society will think they are "selfish". Who knows actually.

2) People living in the same house with some picking it up and others not. I know of at least two families in my neighborhood like this, even when they have to take care of the sick person they don't get it.

Looking forward to your updates on how it goes for you. . . .

Same thing happened with me. My girlfriend spent the first two days with me when I started experiencing covid symptoms, we kissed and spent the night in the same bed. We got tested at the same time, she tested negative and I tested positive. However, she started experiencing covid symptoms 3-4 days later, but it only lasted 2 days with her. She was around family and friends the entire time after being exposed to me, and no one got sick.

Weird virus.

I think there is a difference between taking precautions and self-isolating. For example, I am very careful, wear a mask, wash and sanitize my hands, don't eat at indoor restaurants. But I still come to work everyday and I still have to go to the store. Yesterday, to solve a problem with a large purchase, I had to spend two hours in Home Depot. The lady helping me didn't wear her mask while she was on the phone trying to solve my issue. So while I am being very careful myself, I am still in situations every day where I can be exposed. I think that is the same for the most of us that still have to move around in society.

LOL! If you can't spot a joke when you see one, you might want to get a handle on your life.

Wanted to provide brief update.

Gf got tested again today with some test that's supposed to be nearly 100% accurate. Not sure the name of the test but it was not a 15 minute rapid results test.

She came back negative again and still has no symptoms. Think she's gonna hold off on going on family vacation just to be safe but it doesn't look like she got infected.

My symptoms are still pretty mild. Mainly fatigue and aches in my legs. Little bit of congestion in the mornings.

When you say you felt tired and run down, is it like you felt like you just finished a hard workout in the sun, or like you didn't get enough sleep?

I'm getting paranoid about myself. If I life heavy and get sore the next day, or feel a little sleepy at work, I'm thinking "did it finally get me"?

I've also had an on/off sore throat in my new apartment. I think it's because of the AC blowing on me at night and post nasal drip/mucus I can see back there. But still getting me paranoid.

Big Truck Guy

Started out as tired like I didn't get enough sleep.

Best way I can describe that feeling is normally when I drink a cup of coffee in the morning I am wide awake and jittery. When I get a cold I can drink a giant cup of coffee and don't feel like it has done anything for me.

That was the feeling I had when it first started. Just kind of out of it and tired and caffeine didn't seem to do much.

Now that some time has gone by, I'd say it is more a physical tiredness. Like I climb a flight of stairs and don't really think anything of it, but then all of a sudden I notice I'm completely out of breath.

If it makes you feel any better, I'd say this is probably the third or fourth time since all this started where I've been paranoid like you are talking about. Seems every time I'd get a cough or scratchy throat I'd start to worry about it.

Have been taking a centrum multi vitamin and that is it so far.

Probably going to start taking some zinc supplements that my sister dropped off for me.

Ideal time to take HCQ + Zinc + zpack. If your doc won't Rx HCQ, take Quercetin, also a zinc ionofore but at lower efficacy)

He's repeating Dr. Coats' guidance. He's been VERY effective at treating early with the HCQ cocktail. The point of his treatment regimen is to AVOID hospitalization.

How do you know it's been effective? What's to say those patients would've avoided hospitalization regardless of what you gave them.

I'm not saying the meds aren't effective, but I'm just waiting for more robust evidence before I think it should become standard of care.

Well, check out his posts, i dont remember exactly, but he has treated over 100 people with i think zero or one hospitalization.

Thats pretty dang good if you ask me. But please read his posts for accuracy. He does stress early treatment.
