Maybe because there is still a lot we don't know about this virus just yet
Sounds like you've been lucky while not being as cautious as maybe you should. Just remember, sometimes luck runs out.illbethere said:
We have Family all over the place 100's and 100's of them scattered everywhere and not one has admitted to having it. And we have close family where we all live within less than a mile of each other, 3 of them over 80 years old, and about 20 other family members, nobody got it yet. I would know if any of them get it. some of us travel all over Texas and a few other states and come back on most weekends and we are around each other all the time, eat together Family get togethers on Sundays. Nothing. Not one case. I heard on Radio Brazos County has 17 or 18 people Hospitalized for the entire Brazos County for Covid, not for That Day but Total headcount in the Hospital for Covid.
That many people in my Close Family going that many places and COVID been here for this many Months, Luck has nothing to do with it.SkiMo said:Sounds like you've been lucky while not being as cautious as maybe you should. Just remember, sometimes luck runs out.illbethere said:

More like hubris tending towards outright lying. There's no "analysis" in the claim that you have 100 relatives and you WOULD KNOW if any of them caught it.
not far fetched at ALL wif soemone got itn my family, I would know and yes there are hundreds of them Nation wide and we All know any Big news that comes out of our Family. someone in hospital with Flu, I would know. AND I have been at work every day since this all started and I dont know of ONE person that has it. None of the 50 or so people I work with have it or any of their family "HAVE ADMITTED THAT THEY HAVE IT"SkiMo said:
I'm sorry...but it seems like an exaggerated story to fit a narrative. I've never met anyone who has hundreds and hundreds of family members and even then actually keeps up with a quarter of them. Even Utah mormons don't keep up with that much family.
I have lots of family and friends too with a small number of them having had it...maybe 4. Just over 1% of the entire US population has been diagnosed with this disease so it's very likely you haven't known anyone with it. However, to be so naive to think that hundreds and hundreds of your family members are somehow immune to it seems a bit far fetched to me.
you ever heard of FACEBOOK, I have hundereds of Family members that are friends on facebook, all ages.illbethere said:not far fetched at ALL wif soemone got itn my family, I would know and yes there are hundreds of them Nation wide and we All know any Big news that comes out of our Family. someone in hospital with Flu, I would know. Why? Is that weird? I've seen plenty of movies that start just like this.Windy City Ag said:

If a large enough group of folks start flipping coins, the chance of someone in that group getting 20 heads in a row goes up and up and up. That doesn't change the on the margin probabilities for the average person.Quote:
