The past 2 weeks has been hell on earth... trouble breathing, sweats, chills, stomach flu, and aches and pains. After about a week I got tested and then it came back positive. Fortunately I have seemed to come out on the other side of it. My question now is, does this mean I'm immune to it? It seems like there are a lot of conflicting reports out there.

Glad you're feeling better. Make sure to still keep an eye on your symptoms and it may be a good idea to take those vitamin supplements posted in the stickied thread. You are still at a heightened risk for blood clots.

This thing hasn't been around long enough to know about durable immunity for sure, but it seems like you would be at very low risk for contracting it again.

I hope you do, but sadly at this juncture, if anyone claims to have a firm answer to this question, they're lying.

I think you meant to say you would be at very low risk?

Just checking to clarify. Thanks!

If I were you...I would also schedule an appointment with a cardiologist just to keep an eye on myocarditis, etc.

Yes, sorry. Low risk for reinfection.

Obviously there's no way to know for sure, or how long. It's just too new of a virus.

But data around the globe does tend to indicate that once you have had it, you are unlikely to contract it again. At least not within 6 months since this has been around 8 months and there doesn't seem to be any stories, or few and far between.

I can't recall any stories someone getting a severe case, being in the hospital, and then ending up in the hospital again 3-4 months later because of re-infection. Now, there have been a few that have had it, and tested positive again a month later. Which could still be the same infection fighting off, or a false positive.

And when you look at areas like Sweden, they are monitoring potential re-infection and haven't seen any cases.

So I would say things point to good news on this front.

Congrats on kicking some Covid ass. That sounds like a rough 2 weeks and must feel great to be past it.

I am not a doctor and have only read various studies on this subject. But in my opinion it seems that you can at the very least say you have an increased immunity to it. Increased immunity would mean much less likely to catch it, and if caught your symptoms would be far less than your first go round. It is probable that you are very unlikely to catch it again in the coming months; however, you may not have shed it completely from your body and it may flare up again here in the next couple weeks. Eat health, rest, take vitamins as needed. Good luck!

I assume you meant "study", and as I mentioned I've read various studies - not just one.

You can use google searches such as this one to find topics on the subject, but try to focus on those that link to a study, or to an article backed by a study:

Everyone keeps saying we don't know if an infection now prevents future infections. However, I think history has proven that you are probably safe. Unless someone can show an instance where a similar virus behaved differently than every other known virus in its class.

I tested positive for covid and then recovered after about a week and a half. I would feel fine for a week or two then one day I'd start to feel feverish and achy, then I'd feel fine the next day. I just attributed this to allergies since I have bad sinusitis and allergies.

After two months from testing positive I had a string of about 5 Consecutive days where the covid symptoms returned. I don't know for sure if it was covid or something else, but the symptoms were the exact same from when I got covid the first time. The doctor prescribed my Zithromax and I feel fine now.

I don't know if I was reinfected with covid a second time, or if covid just lingered in my body for two months and then reappeared. I have another friend who tested positive and he experienced the exact same thing as me, he thinks he got reinfected a second time.

I'm shocked there are still people on Texags...and on this board, especially, who don't know about the supplements.

Yes, I was prescribed a steroid inhaler as well as prednisone and a Z-pac. Once I begin on the prescriptions my symptoms improved dramatically. I wish I would of done something sooner but at first the doctor didn't prescribe anything until my O2 dropped below 90.

Trey....

Glad you're feeling better. I thought my two weeks with Covid was tough, but yours far exceeded mine!

I've heard both sides, but the other day, I read an article in a medical journal that claims if you've had Covid, your T-Cells will attack the Covid virus. My takeaway is that you'll be immune from Covid for a long, long time.

Digressing here...it will be interesting to see if you have any long term affects from Covid. I did not have any of the breathing issues you had, but did have just about every other symptom over those two weeks.

It's been three months since I've been 'cleared.' As of today, my sense of taste/smell is about 2/3rd's what it used to be, I have diarrhea more often than I used to, and very unfortunately, my stamina just isn't what it used to be (which sucks because I'm a very active person).

Good luck with your recovery!

Thank you, I was taking Zinc and Vitamin D before I contracted the virus and then I started the rest after I had symptoms.

Out for two weeks? Wow, sorry to hear that, glad your much better.

Wife and I started the regime months ago. I hope it helps us get over the virus faster than two weeks. That doesn't sound fun at all.
