At this point how many are staying sheltered and how many are going out more?

Just curious to see how people on this forum are still limiting activities and how many have gone back to old normal activities like shopping, attending sports and concerts/live events, the gym, restaurants, movies etc? What is your opinion of getting out more and are there still those wishing more would not be out or are still nervous about being out or are more wishing that there was more activities and an end to restrictions? Serious question, not trying to start anything other than discussion.

I have been out and about since May, wife and I have been working the entire time. Kids took 6 weeks off from day care but after we saw the lack of spread and their attitudes changing not seeing their friends we sent them back. Been to the movies, parks, stores, restaurants, customers in all industries including meat processing plants, and after March I would say I was not afraid of the virus. Don't see much point of living my life in fear when the numbers showed I would survive if I got it as well as my family.

It amazes me of the young, healthy people that are still afraid to go out and live. Several have said they are waiting for the government to tell them they are safe before they go to the grocery store again. To each is their own but I can't live like that

I'm doing everything that's allowable. I think alot of people are. I'm sure you've driven mid-day in Austin, you can barely tell the difference. And Friday afternoon looks exactly the same, everyone is off to eat, shop, whatever.

Personally, I've took my family on a vacation in July on plane, took my wife on a staycation in mid-May to the Domain, 2 night overnight in Fredricksburg in June. Pretty much been living my life as normal, where possible (meaning there are no new movies to see, no concerts, etc). If anything, having to wear a mask to go out and about is a bit of a downer and makes me not want to do things (don't want to go to an Aggie game and have to wear a mask, go to gym or shop and wear mask). I'd rather stay home than have to deal with that.

Been as normal as I'm allowed by my state (and probably violate many of the rules). I've flown. I go to the bar about 3x/week. I gather with friends. Kids attend bday parties. Kids play multiple sports. Kids have been going to school since beginning of summer (summer camp and after school program).

I really miss live music, would go if I was allowed.

We have been back to "normal" since May as well. Have taken the kids on mini trips multiple weekends and went to the beach in June for 10 days on a plane as well. Been out at events and now doing soccer for my 9 year old. One of the best parts of all of this is how we did not know our neighbors very well before Covid. Turns out our street has a lot of younger children and the parents have all become friends and we have parties, BBQs and get togethers all the time. I am with Aust Agm in that the masks can kind of bring me down a bit we have worn them when out (not in our neighborhood group of course). I am glad most gyms around here do not require masks when training. But I also have built up my own garage gym with squat rack, barbells and plates plus a bench over the last 2-3 months. That would drive me nuts. Kids are back at school and daycare and helps therm as I felt they needed other kids from March through May before our neighborhood "discovered" each other. They finally had other kids to play with. My kids are 9 and 4 and at those ages being sheltered in place is not good for their health for an extended period of time. We have gone to kids' birthday parties and taken them to play dates with friends from school and pretty much do everything we can do with them.

Moved from Austin a few years ago and are now in McKinney, but it's the same, especially in Collin Cnty.

Kids are in school. We eat at restaurants. We're taking the kids grocery shopping and to Target with us again. The only thing we're not doing is big group activities but that's more because they aren't happening.

Done everything that the state allows to be open

Colorado twice
Austin Twice
Granbury once
Galveston a few times
Movies
Church
Work
Pick up games
Hanging with neighbors
Shopping
Sports
Restaurants
Bars
No masks

Feel bad for healthy people who are still restricting their activity. Feel worse for their kids.

Wearing masks when out in social environments. Distancing from my parents (I'll go over and visit once a week and we just sit out by the pool with some space in between us).

I think you're actually seeing a lot of people not necessarily refrain from certain activities because they are necessarily scared of the virus, but rather because they could adequately replicate those activities without having to go be around a ton of strangers.

Movie theater with a bunch of strangers and people talking? Nah, we'll just watch on the big screen at home.

Dinner in a restaurant with a bunch of strangers? Nah, we'll either cook or pickup food and have friends over.

Grocery store? Why was I choosing that over doorstep delivery in the first place?

Live sporting attendance was declining as it was.

I miss concerts though... but not really avoiding them per se... the whole industry essentially still on hold.

I think a lot of people have realized while they enjoy being social with their friends, there ain't a whole lot worth being in crowds with a bunch of strangers right now.

Aggie Football is worth it to me, personally. As are movies. I love being part of the excitement of an opening night of a blockbuster movie. I'd go now, no problem.

I wouldn't call it being scared, though I do know some people who are to an extent. I think you are right, people are more likely to say, "while I doubt this thing is that dangerous, why go out and spend money and take the time to go and come back and all the while I might get Covid too". It will be interesting to see how this changes certain industries once the virus is not an issue. Movies, just as you stated about sports, were already taking a hit with the level of technology people have in their own homes. TVs are really good and cheap now, surround sound and you can watch in your underwear or less if you want! Pause if you need to go to the bathroom (one of the worst feelings is that need to piss when there's a lot going on and you don't want to miss it. And it saves money. Even A&M games are tough for those of us who live (or need to live) on a budget and can't always get a hotel room so drive down and back most games. That was a lot easier 10 years ago when I was younger. ANd while we still go to the grocery store, I do hate going. Having it delivered is awesome.

My wife or myself have been to the movies over 10 times and it is fantastic, only once was there anyone else was there anyone else there except for last week when there were about 20 people. Its been like having your own theatre. A lot of places will let you rent an entire theatre for pretty cheap now, we went to a birthday party with some neighbors who we have been hanging out with anyways and there was about 20 people there as well.

I will say that everyone in my family is healthy which helps. We hang out with the in-laws who are 65 and only one has any health conditions with high cholesterol. We did ask them from the start if they want us to avoid contact with them but they said seeing us and the kids is worth the risk.

Been to 8 states this summer for work. Won't let us fly, but have been in and out of hotels about 20-25 nights.

Ran errands today to 4 different stores and stopped for lunch. Other than the dentist this morning haven't worn a mask.

TLDR: Back to normal. Shaking hands etc.
We will go back to air travel in January and will be back 100% to normal.

Been as normal as the states allow the entire time. A few flights, a few road trips, weekly country dancing without masks on, 1500 person outdoor concert in Cheyenne, bars and restaurants 3 days / week, church on Sundays.

Got covid, got over it, worth it.

I won't lie I've been itching to see Tenet... But the movie theater experience where 25% of the time you get some rude ******* talking or on their phone has really soured me on spending a lot of $$$ to go to a theater -- and with covid it just becomes a hard pass.

I am 100% done with the Rona.

I respect a business' request to wear a mask but otherwise, we are going about our daily lives as normal.

Have been extra careful the whole time, as my wife was pregnant and that's what her doctor recommended. Now we have a four week old, so we have to be careful for her sake. Once she is six weeks to a month we will start getting back to normal as much as we can. Will wear a mask where it is requested by businesses. Still won't be able to do a whole lot with an infant

Yeah, I just remembered ....I went to see my Dad in Montgomery last weekend, and had to go to WalMart for him. I saw about 20% walking around with no mask, and thought "Damn, I haven't see this since April in Austin, pretty cool".

I then pulled mine off.

I have never limited my activities. I've been out and about this entire time. Never quit going to stores had to quit going to movies restaurants in sports events because I had no choice. Right now I eat out about 3-5 times a week, Gone to several movies and went to the Aggie football game the other day. There's nothing to be concerned about.

I do try and avoid non essential activities that require me to wear a germ rag for a long period of time. I'd go to the zoo, but not if required to wear one.

I have never stopped working, although I wear a mask 12 hours a day because of TMB mandates. If they lifted the mandate, I would stop wearing the mask immediately. I am 63 and healthy with a better than average immune system because of my constant exposure over 40 years. I don't necessarily mind the restrictions, but am very concerned about the effects this is having on my grandsons. Socialization and child to child interaction is essential for normal social development.

I am not back in "in person" church because my church has chosen not to open until this Sunday. It really hurts me to see what cowards they are and that they won't take a stand for their faith.

I never payed much attention to John Macarthur before, but now really admire him and the stand he has taken.

I am done with all pro sports and am going to watch the Ags until they do something embarassing at the game venue.

I saw tenet in imax in Boise (escaping California lockdown and fires) in an empty theater. This is the best time to watch it if you actually want to.

My husband has been about 50% in the office and 50% WFH the entire time.

We go out for dinner every couple weeks. Not as frequently as before, but that's because other things we used to link with dinner out (like theater or concerts) are still closed. I'm in Houston. We ate at Eddie V's at City Centre on Saturday. The restaurant was pretty full and City Centre was hopping. Weekdays around me still seem quiet, but there are a lot of people getting out on the weekends.

We gave up our football tickets this year (both Aggies and Texans) because of all the restrictions and lack of tailgating/questionable restaurant availability.

We've been at the gym consistently since they reopened, and go for haircuts, salon appointments, etc. I cut grocery shopping to once a week at the height of the pandemic, but never stopped going. I'm starting to fall back into my old habit of picking up just a few things and buying less during my weekly grocery shop. I shop in my favorite boutiques pretty regularly

We spent 4th of July weekend in Port A, but haven't done any long distance travel since this started. That will change next week when we go to New England for two weeks. We're flying and staying in a combination of VRBO rentals and small inns. We're excited not apprehensive about traveling again. It's been too long! My 88 year old mom will be joining us the second week, and I think she's even more excited than we are!

Husband has been working outside the home the entire time. I've been in the office since July. Son and daughter are in an apartment and a dorm, respectively. He makes money by coaching debate, so most of that is currently virtual. She works at a restaurant.

Because of our daily exposure at work, we limit visits with my parents to their backyard as much as we can. We've gone to a few restaurants with them, but other than that, we pick our food up to go, and really don't miss the inside of a restaurant.

Our church is offering remote and in-person services. We've stayed with the remote because we know that our possibility of passing Covid along to one of the many elderly people in our church is high. We're still active financially and organizationally.

I order the bulk of our groceries for curbside pick-up and don't see that ever changing. We run into Sprouts for fresh fruits and vegetables.

I've continued to limit my aimless shopping at most stores because it's been much better for our budget.

Travel- I'm venturing to Houston next week to see our son. Husband is going hunting in the mountains. Daughter is flying to New York for the second time since this all started. Her best friend goes to school there.

I'm an introvert, so enjoy staying at home anyway. We have a few friends we see, but that's it, and I'm fine with that.

I have been going to my office since May. We practice social distancing measures.

I have been doing grocery shopping and taken my toddler to HEB several times.

We had a baby in July.

My wife has taken our kids to be around family members.

I have two kids so I don't frequent bars like I used to.

My wife and i have gone to restaurants with our parents who are in their 60s and 70s.

My toddler has been playing in the street with the neighbors' toddler since the initial lockdown.

We have taken a family vacation to a not so far away location and been out and about while adhering to mask guidance.

Our toddler has been in daycare nearly everyday since the daycare lifted restrictions in April.

I am not boasting. What works for some may not work for others. I'm keeping our lifestyle at the speed that allows us to be wary of Covid while still maintaining a semblance of normalcy.

Godspeed to all.

Still working 50-60 hours a week at our essential jobs in healthcare and still generally staying home during downtime. Miss sporting events and concerts the most. Building a pool. Not really missing dining out indoors - food delivery has been a real game changer and may never go to a grocery store ever again. Kids are hanging in there. High risk in-laws living with us doing ok.
