Positive cases with nausea, fatigue and soreness only symptoms?

Kind of random but my brother and sister in law (mid 40s both otherwise healthy) have both tested Covid +. Brother got it first last weekend. He was helping my parents clean out their garage Saturday and felt tired and achy Sunday. Thought he was just sore from working all day Saturday. Monday morning he had a 100 fever so he got tested before going in to work and was positive. Sister in law tested positive the next day and developed symptoms end of last week.

Thankfully neither of my parents have had symptoms yet (they are both high risk and socially distanced from brother last weekend).

What's been weird about my brother and sis in laws cases is they have never had any of the "usual" symptoms (no coughing, no trouble breathing, no loss of smell/taste). All they have had was nausea, fatigue and soreness with sporadic low grade fever.

They are both still sick (brother is finally turning the corner), both say they have never been sick like this. Both have had to go to ER for IVs for dehydration.

I just think it's strange that both have the same symptoms which I know are Covid symptoms but neither have had the respiratory issues. Both of them report it's like the worst stomach flu they have ever had, and instead of lasting 24-48 hours, it's going on 10 days now.

I'm probably outing myself as total Covidiot, but are their possibly different strains of this thing, or do certain people just react differently to it, or as I suspect, do we just not really have any idea right now?

I can't answer your last question, but my daughter hasn't experienced a cough or lost of taste/smell yet and she's on Day 8.

On Day 1, she had chest pressure similar to asthma, but without the cough. It was gone by Day 2. Her Day 1 included: sore throat (felt like reflux at first), chest pressure, body aches (initially thought to be related to a long day at work), diarrhea, headache, then fever.
Subsequent days: sore throat (more than reflux), body aches, intermittent diarrhea, horrible headache through Day 5 (possibly dehydration related), low-grade fever (absent Day 6), fatigue (slept until 1pm yesterday and was napping by three). She turned 19 last week and has no underlying conditions (except asthma and I'm not sure that counts), but this has hit her hard.

I think there are theories about different strains as well as people's reactions. The real answer is probably along the lines of we don't know yet. It's really crazy how it impacts people so uniquely.

I hope your brother and SIL are well soon.

It is like any other illness, different people react differently. Most of the people I know that have gotten Covid were in decent health before and kicked it within a few days. There were a few others that define themselves as the posterchild of bad health and it put them in the hospital for a few days. If you are healthy it is not abnormal to have a mild case.

My Mom has been ill and tested positive on Sunday these are her symptoms. Nausea, cramping caused by dehydration and potassium imbalance. On the other hand, our son (college) had it a couple of months ago and had the fairly minor sore throat/feeling bad issues for only a couple of days

I had almost identical symptoms that lasted 12 days. I didn't have nausea, but I lost my appetite during the last four or five days.

Thanks cc, and I hope your daughter is doing well. Funny that you mentioned "reflux," that was actually my brothers first symptom. They evidently had pizza late Friday night which he doesn't normally do, so Saturday he had reflux all day but thought it was related to the pizza.

It's such a weird virus. I know different people experience it differently but I did think it was interesting that both brother and sis in law have same symptoms.

Brother says he's about 75% now and appetite is back. Sister in law sleeps off and on all day and just drinks liquids that are forced upon her.

Parents still symptom free (as are my nephews and niece who are evidently becoming video game pros while being quarantined from school with mom sleeping 20hrs a day).

My neighbors both recovered from COVID about two weeks ago. Married couple in their 50s-60s.

She had more "traditional" symptoms, albeit very mild, and recovered quickly.

He had nausea, loss of appetite, fever, and aches. No respiratory issues. But his fever stuck around for several days.

He got it from her and would not have gotten tested if she had not already come back positive. In fact, his first call to his doctor was a "no, doesn't sound like COVID".

Poor people were quarantined for over a month due to the timing of their exposure/sickness.

I tested positive for COVID and my initial symptom was an upset stomach that I blamed on anxiety. I went on to just have a head cold, aches, and tiredness. No cough, fever, or loss of smell/taste.
