Common sense dictates that masks help. To what extent they help and it's significance is probably not very high.
No, it really/certainly doesn't. Masks nor lockdowns, have any correlation, and math/science/data supports that. This trumps any hunch/'common sense' as it is provable now with this specific virus.

Real common sense would dictate that data be analyzed/considered beyond a naive hope that cheap paper/cloth masks have an impact.

It feels like you are trying to argue with someone who is agreeing with you in the big picture. The difference is you are trying to paint an analog scale to a binary. It is clear that mask and/or lockdown mandates aren't going to stop this thing. But, there is absolutely zero proper data from an actual controlled study that supports masks do nothing and to otherwise assert this is a misunderstanding of science. It's okay to acknowledge this and also acknowledge the real world data suggesting mask mandates aren't some magic solution that's going to provide major impact to overall reduction of spread across a broad population. This is likely due to several factors including common sense ones like knowing that paper masks are far from perfect as a filter, there is always some level of non-compliance, and in general at the population level we suck at wearing masks properly whether or not the government tells us we need to wear them. Each of these factors serves to reduce effectiveness to the point where, as the prior poster acknowledges, the significance isn't all that high.

Respectfully, I am not attempting to argue a point/semantics at all. In fact, the data is available and widespread (on a global basis, or at least in the northern hemisphere) now that lockdowns, nor masks (nor any NPI) have impacted the spread in a statistically measurable way.

(A 'controlled study' however by various definitions would require identical population groups, in identical climates, to be blindly studied with and without masks. This is impossible, and always will be, as you are probably aware. The data from Europe/North America/various states, though, should show some sort of R2 difference between high NPI states/countries and non-NPI.) I've locked to the time below as to the impact of the mask/lockdown restriction being lifted in Florida, for a specific data point, but the bottom line is no impact to mask mandates/usage in public has had any measurable impact on covid spread;

My issue isn't with the poster above, it's with the popular/politicized myth (and religious belief of some) that masks are helpful, and those not wearing them are somehow doing their fellow man a disservice/being selfish.
