Any idea where someone could get a rapid test (free or not) in Houston today? Minute Maid Park is full until Wednesday and I don't even think they're rapid. (This is the end of my question. Background is posted below if you want to know.)

Our son is supposed to come home today or tomorrow. He hasn't had any symptoms and didn't "get around to" getting a test, but we weren't particularly concerned because he sees three people regularly.

The first of the three people is son's roommate who seriously never leaves the apartment (grocery and food delivery) and rarely leaves his room. Another of those three people sees his own girlfriend. The last of the three people is my son's girlfriend who works in a restaurant. So, while their circle is small, it's not closed. I definitely am exposed to more people on a daily basis at my job than he is on a weekly basis. We were willing to take the risk.

Roommate left for home (Florida) last Wednesday. Son helped him carry stuff to the Uber and said goodbye which was the most contact they had in a week, but they do share a bathroom and kitchen even if they don't regularly socialized.

Roommate tested on Saturday ("to be safe") and received a positive today. He's asymptomatic. Last contact with son was Wednesday, which is technically outside the "close contact" window, but, if roommate is asymptomatic, when was he contagious? Also, likelihood is that he got it from son if he really has it because he seriously goes nowhere.

So now we're on the hunt for a rapid test. I'm happy to pay for it.
I know rapid tests aren't 100% accurate. If it comes back negative, we'll also request a send-off test, but we'd like to start here.

Most of the big name urgent care facilities will have the 15 minute Antigen Tests. Just google Antigen Tests in Houston and see who's in network for you. You're not going to find the rapid tests for free (as far as I know).

Curative has several free sites in Houston, which are taking about 3 days at this point. You can go to curative.com to find a site if you want to go that route.

Next Level Urgent Care does rapid testing, if there is one near you.

Edited to add: the cost of the rapid test is $75. There is also a $175 doctor's visit charge, but if you have insurance, they will bill that for the office visit and only charge you $75.

Thanks! He found a test that should give results tomorrow, so we're going with that. It's like a freaking scavenger hunt, especially this close to Christmas.

Next Level Urgent care runs molecular rapid tests which claim to be 96% accurate vs the less reliable antigen ones. They only take same day appts, and they do fill up (but won't tell you they are full). My wife wanted one before we visited family. I stayed up until midnight and registered her on Saturday. She had a 9:45 appt the next day and had the results before she left.

My 3 year old and I had rapid tests Saturday at Brazos Urgent Care on 1960 in the Champions area. I registered on Solve website. They were great....very quick. They called with results 15 minutes after we took the test. They have a location in Cypress as well

Ascent Emergency Room will do a PCR and results back in 3 hours, but the cost is $275 if self pay.

I used it for travel clearance and it was great, just pricy.

Look up neighbors clinics. They have clinics all over town, just schedule it online.
