As I mentioned on here yesterday, we spent two hours yesterday contacting providers listed on the DSHS website. They were all out. Their phone systems and the people answering them were overwhelmed. I don't know the answer, but someone needs to figure this out.
Tarrant County seems to be doing a good job, but I'm not sure anyone else is.

I am in Tarrant county and can't get the vaccine. I did sign up on their website, but so far do not even have the email that supports that. And like I said on another thread, once Monday hits I am back in school with no time to chase down leads.
Hey make it simple. Make it free to everyone. No time to do insurance checks. Have centers like they did for the Salk vaccine when I was a child or like the many drive up testing centers. Use an app to get critical information and vaccinate as many in the authorized groups possible every day.

I agree with that. They are too worried about who to vaccinate. Just start vaccinating anybody who wants it and get the process moving as fast as possible.
dshs site says it's free and insurance status is irrelevant

When did you sign up? I've heard of people who signed up yesterday then received an appointment time last night.
Keep an eye on this site and Tarrant County's site. If it were me, I would check before work, at lunch, at conference, after work, and each evening. It does look like Arlington and Tarrant County are setting up mass vaccinations and will do so again as soon as they have supply.
I'm going to keep up with their registration openings as best I can for a few family members. If you want to PM me your email address or phone number, I'm happy to contact you if registration opens up again for Arlington.

Getting 3 million people signed up/vaccinated within a week on either side of Xmas is pretty incredible, imho.
Healthcare+government=it takes a while. There will be a huge inventory of vaccine supply sitting unused within a month. Also, the whole country isn't as scared of the virus as this forum is.

Our local (Nueces) County health department set up a drive thru situation at the fairgrounds and did several hundred vaccs on Monday. Haven't followed to see if they did it subsequent days. Seems much more efficient than having to make an appt at HEB as Dr. Hotez says. But why not both. Just need to ensure counties have the resources.
I signed up yesterday morning. It said we would get an confirmation email and that never came. I will try again. It says I have to wait 48 hours for confirmation before applying again.
I am old enough to remember when a certain demographic mocked a certain national figure for suggesting that there needed to be a detailed plan to get the shots from the freezer to someone's arm?

Agree, messed up. And probably even higher given these doses were targeted to more vulnerable.
I think they should split the allocations.
Half go by age, and every week they say what age group can go.
Half go to first responders, going with older ones first.

Please, this is insanity. Healthcare workers screw up daily just like the rest of us. .5 percent death rate is (a) fake, and (b) you're assuming falsehoods such as an infection rate, as well as that all 500 of the first doses would have been used anyway. HAI is one of the leading killers in the US, and has been for years. Healthcare is often dirty and sloppy, especially for the elderly. Manslaughter? LOL.

IIRC, 250,000 people in the U.S. die every year from medical errors of which about 100,000 are related to infections and diseases received while physically inside healthcare facilities.

I don't know, but the US is the unquestioned very best in the world at public health, so I'm sure it can't be a glitch in any public health matter.
