Daughter has tested positive..she thought it was sinus issues on Christmas Eve. Tested Dec 28 and got results back positive on Dec 31. My wife and I are negative and she's been locked away up stairs. What are the protocal for my wife and my self as far as quaritinte?

Are you high risk? If not, I would take care of my daughter like I would for any other sickness.

how old is your daughter?

Your official quarantine is 14 days from last day of exposure.

I had it, and while I didn't completely isolate from my son, we did try to avoid each other.

But we both used the kitchen and didn't wear masks at home. He didn't get it.

If you search for something like CDC protocol, it's going to be something like she stays in her room, completely isolated, for 10 days from onset of symptoms. No contact. If she has to come out, stay 6 feet apart and wear masks.

No one is forcing you to to do that though. Evaluate your personal risk and do what you think is best for all three of you.

Check with your employer to see what their restrictions are regarding returning to work. They may tell you to quarantine for 10 or 14 days after last contact with her.

And how old is your daughter. That also makes a difference. A younger child simply can't be isolated.

I would also read the stickied post from Dr Rev and make sure you are taking the recommended supplements.

So, if your daughter had symptoms develop on the 24th, then she's potentially contagious till the 4th. So she just needs to isolate another couple days.

If you can effectively isolate your daughter, then your 14 day quarantine starts the last day you had contact with her (or January 4th if you can't isolate).

You and your wife got tested possibly too soon. A test performed less than 7 days from exposure has a high chance of being falsely negative. I always recommend getting tested only if you have symptoms OR at least 7-10 days from last exposure from an infected individual to get a more meaningful test result.

A lot of people will say to just assess your risk, but you have to assess the risk of those you'll be around. You may not be high risk, but maybe one of your coworkers if obese with asthma or diabetes. Quarantine will help you protect them, and also help the healthcare system if it's overburdened where you live.

I tested negative on day ten after being exposed to my daughter's family two days before they had someone with the first symptoms...my five year old granddaughter. My daughter and Son in law are fine now but were really sick with a not well five year old to try to take care of. But after about 12 days, the son in law finally stopped running fever and my daughter stopped coughing every breath. Five year old only had runny nose and fever. But it is tough on a family to not just all get it, honestly.

Retested again and still negative. She is done with her period and feeels like she always does. 22 so that may have something to do with it
