My 4yo son tested positive 12/19. No symptoms ever but we all tested after my wife tested positive 12/18. His twin was negative.

Fast forward to now and his daycare is requiring him to have a negative test, which is not consistent with the CDC. So 13 days after testing positive we had him retested and of course comes back today still positive.

I am at a loss what to do. He is currently rolling around in the floor giggling like crazy with his twin and the dog. Like nothing is "wrong" but he cannot return to daycare? What about his twin?

Daycares are licensed by the state.
1) Print out CDC guidelines and show it to your daycare - if they still want a negative test
2) Tell them you'll contact the state - if they say go ahead
3) Contact the state (I believe it's H&HS), and the state should straighten it out

I don't know about your daycare, but most are family owned and not all of them are very educated. They may just be scared about shutting down and losing business, just like anyone else. Try to play nice.

They can, but their policies are 100% silent on when a positive case can return. and only refer to the CDC website. These are the .PDF policies on their website. The information we received from them was strictly over the phone.

Nope. Boy and girl. Tested on Thursday about 4 hours apart. She was again negative. Zero isolation from each other the last 13 days. Actually a very good case study for spread between kids. 2 weeks home together constant playtime except when sleeping.

Even if you go with the full 14 day that used to be the required quarantine, that would be up on what? the 3rd or 4th. Even the other twin has to quarantine. But that should be about over.

My test results have been emailed to me. I'd imagine they'd be insanely easy to photoshop, especially if I had a test with negative results. Just saying.....

Also, how gender neutral is the other twins name....?

I am a preschool director and we are opening back for the first time since March. I have combed and combed through all of the State of Texas Child Care Licensing Rules and the CDC rules

Child Care Licensing has Emergency Rules that you have to follow and then there are suggestions put out by the CDC along with the State of Texas.

I have attached links to the Emergency Rules and the State of Texas Reopening Day Cares Guidelines with guidance from the CDC.

My understanding from the Emergency Rules is that you are to follow the CDC's recommendation and this is what I am telling my families:

Student can end home isolation after meeting all of the following three criteria: at least 10 days since symptoms appeared, at least 24 hours with no fever-reducing medication, and symptoms have improved.

In my opinion, they should be telling you to bring in a negative test only if you are wanting to come back earlier that those 10 days.

If you continue to have no symptoms, you can be with others after 10 days have passed since you had a positive viral test for COVID-19.
