My coworker came back from her two week Christmas/New Years break. She has been in meetings and eating lunch with others each day. On Thursday, she accidentally let it slip to me and another coworker that her husband had Covid during Christmas/New Years, but didn't tell us exactly when he tested positive. She then told us that he didn't wear a mask in the house and no one else got it. I questioned if everyone got tested and she said no one was tested except her husband. She went on to say "I'm not getting tested if I don't have symptoms " and said that her husband's quarantine period was over, so she decided it was fine for her to go to work too.

I'm mad because she has been at work under the assumption that she doesn't have it because she doesn't have symptoms.

Since she refused to get tested, how long should she be quarantining? Should hers start from when her husband's symptoms ended? From when he tested positive? He is back at work, but still has a cough.

She didn't let it slip. She was bragging/virtue signaling.

His cough could linger for months. Shouldn't be any problem with him being back to work if he is 10 days from the first day of symptoms and he is now fever / symptom free. My understanding however is someone who has been exposed is to quarantine 14 days from last possible date of exposure as it can take up to 14 days to show symptoms.

I believe CDC changed it to 7-10 days after exposure.

Not optimal, but not the end of the world either. I can guarantee you she was not the first person you have been around that has done something similar. Confused as to why she'd even tell you. As Idaho stated, probably bragging a bit which is dumb. She should know to quarantine regardless of having symptoms, so I don't believe her for one minute she didn't know.

Was she wearing a mask at work or when she wasn't was she further than 6ft for most of that time? Masks cannot guarantee Covid won't spread but will probably limit the spread if others had theirs on and she did as well.
