Agree. As the ~ 6th largest county in the state, it really is inexcusable that Collin County would not have their act together more and make sure they were included in these evolving strategies.

Yep. Dallas county and Tarrant county get over 20,000 doses each and Collin county gets 1800. I called UT Southwestern medical center. I'm not sure they even know they are a hub. They said they are only vaccinating their patients. I thought a hub was supposed to be for the qualified general public.

Everybody age 65 or older, or age 16 and older with a qualifying health condition, is signing up at these links, RIGHT?

The week of January 11, Texas will direct most COVID19 vaccines received to large sites or hubs around the state to vaccinate more than 100,000 people. The goal of this plan is to provide more people the vaccine and a simpler way to sign up for an appointment.
All Phase 1A and 1B individuals are eligible to receive a vaccine at these hubs, regardless of where they reside.
  • Phase 1A: Front-line healthcare workers and residents at long-term care facilities
  • Phase 1B: People over 65 or with a chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from COVID19
Below is a table of vaccine hub providers across Texas visit the registration link of a hub near you to sign up.
  • Please do not just show up at a hub find out first if walk ups are accepted.
Depending on the provider, you may be placed on a waiting list and may be contacted (phone, email, or text) when vaccines become available. Please look carefully at the hub's registration site for details.
Providers will focus on vaccinating areas and populations hardest hit by COVID19.
Vaccine supply is limited (but more arrives every week) and it will take time to vaccinate all. Thank you for your patience as Texas rolls out more vaccine every week.

I'm not eligible yet, but has anyone else successfully signed up for a shot at one of these new vaccine hubs? Better yet, anyone get a shot at one of them yet? Good luck to all that are eligible!

I received mine at a hub in Harris County yesterday. My appointment was for 8:24 and I showed up at 7:40 and was probably around the 100th car in line from the best I can tell. The line of cars started moving promptly at 8am. As you pulled forward, there were people spread out checking QR codes, taking temperatures, and passing out vaccine fact sheets. Once you'd received the fact sheet, you were directed to one of 6 lines to receive the vaccine. It took me about 45 minutes to reach the actual line to receive the vaccine and then another 15-20 minutes to receive the vaccine. The nurses administering the vaccine were working under a tailgate type tent with space heaters. They asked several qualifying questions prior to administering the vaccine. In order to administer the vaccine, they walked to a nearby refrigerated truck to retrieve the syringe. Once I received my shot, I was given my CDC vaccine card and directed to park in a waiting area for 15 minutes to ensure there were no immediate adverse effects. Once my time was up, I was free to leave.

Overall, it seemed like fairly efficient system. I did ask the nurse why they weren't working in tents like the ones Harris County used for voting and she said that they had to take the site down every evening and set up every morning. I think that part of the process could be re-worked. I felt bad for all of the workers that had to be exposed to the cold all day.

All 3 Harris County Hubs tell you not to bother because they do not have doses available. The Brazos County Hub accepted our name and data, but said that it did not have any doses. If "20 million" doses have been released to the states by the end of December, where are they? This all feels like a state and local government SNAFU...

There are certainly improvements to be made during the effort - which is the largest vaccination effort ever in the United States. I think the hubs set up this week are an attempt to do better.

In the US, 27.7 million doses have been distributed and 9.94 doses administered. Probably 9 million of the 17.7 million undistributed are being held to give a second dose to people who already have a first dose (just my estimate). The other 8.7 million needs to get moving, no doubt, but that's already a lot of shots administered in less than one month.

Texas is actually doing quite well, comparatively. We've administered 47% of our distributed doses - puts us in the top 10 states as far as percent administered. We've given the most shots of any state, we're #1 - not shocking considering we are the second most populous state but we are almost 100K ahead of California, and they have 30% more population. Kicking their ass!

I hope you can sign up online soon. The person who posted above you got their shot at a hub in Harris county, I guess you had to act fast. Regardless, I though you'd be able to sign up online and just put in a queue - are they not even putting you in a queue?

I appreciate the stats! My words are likely a little harsh, given the size of this project.

The three Harris County hubs are not even allowing you to sign up. That makes no sense to me, given what needs to be accomplished. So I have to keep hitting them up to see if they have doses and then (quickly) sign up. Seems very inefficient. I kind of expect that out to the two government hubs, but I am surprised at Houston Methodist...

Waco (McClennan) and CC (Nueces) are the same as Harris County (out of doses; no registration), though Waco allows you to get on a notification sheet.

I am also going to be harsh of Methodist Hospital website for sign up. Knew the vaccine was coming this week and checked Methodist and other websites for Harris County multiple times per day. No appointments available. Just happened to see original post on this thread about signing up through DSHS. They showed a new link that allowed signup at Methodist hub that Methodist did not reference anywhere on their website. Signed up, but did not get appointment. A few hours later the link changed and lo and behold also appeared on Methodist website with both stating signup no longer available.
