Most pediatricians recommend at least 12 months of breastfeeding. Up to 18 mo- 2 years is definitely normal.

Considering less than 20% of children breast feed that long, I guess we got a realist for a doctor, and I can appreciate that.

As a pediatrician, my wife worked full time as a school administrator and breastfed all 3 of our children until 12-13 months of life. There are many ways to provide nutrition for your children. Congratulations to everyone for making informed decisions that fit with their family's goals, lifestyle, and values!

I have small kids and the concern level for them is next to zero at this time. Based on all the stats.

11 month old still nursing? Did I read that wrong?
? do you have kids? Unless there was an issue better question is why would the baby not be breastfeeding? They will still be eating normal baby food, but two years is normal in many parts of the world that have a far lower IMR

2 kids. Never took it to that level. Maybe 6 months like the pediatrician recommended.

Both kids sharp as a tack and healthy as well.

Glad it works for y'all, two full time careers and daycare at around 7-8 weeks for us.
I never mentioned your children's health or IQ. Your comment came across as snarky in why someone would still be breast feeding at 11 months. I was just pointing out that it is completely normal and recommended by both AAP and the WHO. I know mothers that physically/medically could not breastfeed. Each situation is different. As I have always said the goal is to have a healthy/happy baby and mom. If we do that it's a success, glad both of your experiences were positive ones.
