1st dose of Pfizer on 12/24
+ for IgM and IgG antibodies on 1/11

I've tested myself almost weekly for covid (always negative)

Also tested several times for antibodies (always negative)

My last negative antibody and negative covid tests were on Jan 3rd.

First I want to say that it sounds a little crazy that you are testing so much but it makes me want to do an antibody test in a few weeks to see if I get the same result.

I agree with the testing......but, I work in the ER, ICU, and an Urgent Care and have constant contact with + patients on a daily basis. So routine testing became a part of life. Especially after high risk exposures, which unfortunately happen, no matter how careful you are.

Very supportive of being vaccinated... Thanks for sharing.

So, 2-1/2 weeks to effective "immunity"?

What is the latest research on how long the antibodies will last? I've heard 3 months and i've heard 9 months.

I can confirm a patient with positive IgG 12 days after the vaccine.

Is there a separate test for antibody titer for vaccine ?
My understanding was some tests did not pick up on these as there was variance between natural infection antibody and vaccine antibody

I am 6 days out. My kids are grown and my son is fairly sick with Covid. Part of me really wants to go take care of his 4 and 6 year old, but I am 72 and I know I need to wait. But it is so hard when it is people you love. I wish the vaccine worked even sooner.

I know a doc with antibodies 14 days after Moderna. I'm gonna have mine checked in another 7 days or so (putting me at 14)

Just know that some antibody tests, particularly at the blood donation center that I went to, do not detect antibodies produced by the vaccine. If you test negative it does not necessarily mean the vaccine was ineffective.

Don't really have a clear answer as to why.

Different types of antibodies. Different specificity of tests are needed.

The vaccines are a new type of vaccine, in that they do not contain a dead or attenuated virus for your body to learn how to attack. The vaccines are designed to teach your body how to attack a specific protein (Spike protien)the virus utilizes to attach to your cells and then replicate. So your body is only producing anti bodies that block or prevent the spike protein from attaching to the cell and then inserting the viral code into your cell to begin replication, and with out that replication the virus dies and is easily defeated by the bodies other immune responses.

The antibody test blood centers are using specifically targets the antibodies that are created from a full blown infection to defeat the virus, not just the spike protein.

Therefore it is not likely we would find results on the test we are utilizing. Not impossible but not likely. The test is designed for a different purpose.
