How long do you want to ignore this user?
My MIL is 82 and has dementia/Alzheimer's. She has not stepped out of her house in years and is determined to not do so. She has not seen a doctor in the last 20 years. There is no way we will be able to take her in for a shot. She is in San Antonio and I'm looking for ideas how to get her vaccinated in her home. Any ideas?

If she won't leave the house, she doesn't need the vaccine, does she?

There are presumably people who enter the house.

Thanks. Yes, she has outsiders that assist with her care. I'm starting to think wbt was trolling me.

I don't know that there is an easy answer. I would think the choices are either wait till house call docs (yes they exist) get vaccine to administer, or wait till she is at the point where she needs care in a facility.

Ancillary point is that hopefully her in home care people will be fully vaccinated soon.

My Mom is in San Antonio also and has Alzheimer's. Has 24 hour care. The caregivers have not had the vacinne. 2 of the care givers got Covid. Mom didn't get it. We talked to her doctor and their honest opinion was she is safer at home. Don't take her to a mass vaccination place because of her Alzheimer's. She won't wear a mask anyways. Tears it off. She is 75 and has Alzheimer's for 10 years now. Bot.much you can do but care for her.

I apologize - trying to be funny. I wouldn't think home health care providers will have the vaccine until next yer.

They are getting it now. My wife is a home health PT and has already had her first shot.

Sorry - I know they are getting it - I mean they are not getting doses to dispense.

My county is already making house calls to get to those 65+ who can't leave. Small town Kansas county so likely your YMMV. They also decided to start with 65+ for phase 2, avoiding the state guidelines for essential workers, at least at this point.
