And just like that, I was able to get an appointment for tomorrow afternoon.

No. I'm going to tell you how I got a spot.

1. I had signed up with my original email address with Austin Public Health when it first opened up. I answered everything honestly.
2. Yesterday, I couldn't sign back in. So I created a new account with my work email. I answered everything honestly in the questionnaire.
3. As soon as I hit submit, I got an email stating that I needed to sign up for an appointment now. I tried last night with no luck. This morning, I was able to get one for tomorrow.

Why my original account never got a notification from Austin Public Health is a mystery. I'm glad that I'm going to get my shot.

FWIW - no one asks for any proof of your "comorbidity". If you're concerned and want the vaccine, go ahead and register.
Or maybe be a decent person and wait until people more at risk get their chance. For all the crap about "we're all in this together"...
The state has made that judgement - I technically fall in Group 1B, but the underlying health issue that qualifies me does not affect my daily life. I honestly put that down when I registered.

I was surprised they scheduled me for an injection with such a minor issue. I was surprised no one asked for proof of it when I went. Which all goes to tell me they don't really care - and they've said as much.

And everyone who desperately needs it should be on a waiting list already, so registering now will not put you in line in front of anyone who needs it worse than you.

Yet you already got it while elderly people wait. Good for you.

Tarrant County could have said elderly only. They did not.

Yep. They don't say that anywhere. It's all about the groups.

Unsure why other posters don't understand that. They seem to blame others for the system. Maybe it's jealousy. Who knows.

BMI of 30 isnt that fat.
Depends on body composition, but yes 30 can be very obese. It can also be a professional athlete.

I hate BMI for people who are involved in weight training. But for your average joe? 30 typically means pretty fat.

Also, going off on a tangent, but I hate BMI the other way. I'm 5-11. According to this, 133 would be healthy for me. Woof. I just can't imagine a 5-11 133 pound male.

But, as stated, it is cheap and easy to go on the aggregate level. As an individual, I'd go other routes.

While I don't disagree that an elderly needs it more than say a 48 year old, one could also argue that the 48 year old is more likely to be out and about more, so it could have just as big, or bigger affect.

In addition, you don't really need one age group at 100%. Age groups typically hang out with one another mostly. Yeah, visiting grandparent, work might be of all ages, etc. I get that. But in general, 40 year olds hang out with 40 year olds. 70 with other 70s.

If 60% of the 70 year old population gets it, and 60% of the 30, 40, 50, and 60 year old population get it, that might be a better net effect than 0% of 30, 40, and 50 year old's while 100% of 60/70 year olds.

I really haven't seen those numbers. Just thinking out loud. I don't really care. The more that get it, no matter who, the better for everyone. I'm waiting my turn regardless, and don't really care when as a 34 year old with minimal risk.

I played golf yesterday with a guy who took his wife to get her shot, who had cancer a few years ago. She was the only one who registered. While there, he asked if he could get one too. Didn't have to show his id, no paperwork filled out, dude just stuck him with a shot and said have a nice day. This was in tarrant county.

They just want to get as many people vaccinated as possible, and I'm ok with that.

Don't blame him, it's not his fault. Blame the distribution.

You're a jackass trying to make people feel bad about getting vaccinated. Go play in a sand box somewhere else.

I think they are getting almost zero vaccine. I signed up my mother at a few in our area and she was in the 200ish range per the pharmacies. No calls since then. Luckily I got her a shot at UT Tyler.
