And you'd be wrong. There are hardly any doctors capable of storing the vaccine at the required temperature or have the capacity to vaccine people in sufficient numbers to make temporary storage feasible. It's a storage and scaleChange Detection said:
Hmmm, think there is some $$$ at play here.
Then book at CVS. Or Walgreens. Or HEB. Or Kroger's. It's the same juice that you want to get at your doctor's office.Change Detection said:
And yet my Doctor's office in Houston has none. Hmmm, think there is some $$$ at play here.

Are there any county residency requirements?
If I wanted to could I drive out to odessa and get a shot?
someday when all this covid bull**** is over, somebody is going to write a book on how dishonest and corrupt and politically driven this entire thing has been. The lies, the flip flopping, the selective use of statistics, fear, what businesses got to go on normally and what were shut down....it is going to be epic. This vaccine thing is just another example of this.Change Detection said:
And no I am not wrong. Thanks for trying to enlighten me, but there is $$ in play. I talked to my doctor's office at length and the vaccine is being prioritized to those locations. This doctors facility has the refrigeration and even a fully stocked pharmacy, and they have previously been giving shots. Next to impossible to get now. Even they are recommending the CVS.
There is a ton of lobbying by Walmart, CVS and Walgreens to get the vaccine because some folks think it is a good idea to tramp through a major shopping outlet and go get a shot. They want the traffic through their store. Walmart, CVS and Walgreens are doing it for the money.
You and Change Detection are right. It's definitely all about the money and not the established supply chains and distribution networks that are more conducive to distributing a FREE vaccine. Don't forget the built-in expertise they have with large scale distribution of flu vaccines year after year. Maybe when you go to CVS or Walgreens to get your shot, you can buy some tin foil to make some bigger hats.Prexys Moon said:someday when all this covid bull**** is over, somebody is going to write a book on how dishonest and corrupt and politically driven this entire thing has been. Mom and Pop pharmacy where we live can't get it. CVS down the road has big shipment coming soon. total bull*****
That's easy, you pay them. Then when it comes time to distribute that product at no cost to the public you serve, you go to the best organizations you can find to help get it done.ec2004 said:
I wonder if there is a way that we could get the smartest people in the world to drop everything they are working on and create a life-saving product that is needed by billions of people around the world.
I'm trying to come up with some kind of incentive that we could offer these really smart people...surely someone has thought of this before.

Pearland CVS - in and out yesterday in less than 30 minutes (including the 15 minute wait post shot). Run like a well oiled machine.
Only downside - getting a hard sell in line for their clinic services
This is where you stop them really quickly with a harsh "no thank you".texag84 said:

Pfizer most likely at three weeks for second dose. Moderna second dose is at 28 days according to data.gooberhead said:
Got my husband scheduled for vaccination at CVS in Jacinto City for Monday. 2nd vaccination is set for 3 weeks later, so I'm assuming it's Pfizer.
I don't think there is an approved vaccine for kids yet.duck79 said:
Wife is inside cvs right now waiting for her dose. She is next to an entire family that signed up including their young kids. Unless they have a medical condition, kinda bs that they are taking them from people more in danger.
Probably all virtual school kids. Feel sorry for them. Hopefully though now they'll get some sense of normalcy and "freedom" from fear.duck79 said:
Young was probably the wrong word. She said they are high school-college age. 18-23

Not sure how I'm so unlucky, but I can't get my parents in anywhere. Every single time I've checked cvs, it says no appointments available due to high demand. And I searched for the entire state.

Good to see the vaccine is generally available to all 65+ years old if they know how to navigate the CVS site and are able to drive for hours if needed
