It's important to not take acetaminophen and drink at the same time. Puts unneeded stress on the liver

Just to be safe, I won't take acetaminophen/tylenol and alcohol within 24 hours of each other, not even at Holy Communion. That may be overdoing it, but it doesn't seem that unreasonable.

I got the vaccine Wednesday afternoon. About 22 hours later, I started having joint and muscle pain, a headache, and fatigue. Those symptoms lasted between 8 and 12 hours. Around the same time (22 hours after the shot), the injection site became red, swollen, and painful. It's still in the same condition more than 24 hours later. Should I be concerned about blood clots or infection? My doctor's office is closed on Friday afternoons, so I can't check with them...

My arm seems to be worse today. I may need to get it checked out. Trying to hold out until Monday if I can. Other than my arm, I'm doing well. Thanks for asking!

Taken in Ibuprofen for the pain and swelling?

Yep, been taking a lot of Ibuprofen since the symptoms started Thursday. More than the recommended dosage, actually, but it's having minimal impact. I've also tried putting a cool washcloth on it, which helps while it's there but holding the washcloth on isn't conducive to getting anything done for work or caring for my family.

I was vaccinated with J&J on Wednesday.

My arm was a little sore that night, but not so much that I couldn't sleep on it. People I know who had their second shot of the other vaccines seemed to have far more problems.

The second night, it was sore enough that I slept very little on that arm, but by morning it didn't bother me.

By now, the soreness is minimal. If I tap on the arm, I feel a bit soreness, but that's it.

I haven't taken any acetaminophen. I'm allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen, so none of them either.

Got my Shot Friday at 5:30. Very mild headache starting about 10:00 A.M. Saturday in addition to my neck and back muscles being a little tight. A little soreness on my left shoulder where I received the injection. All good now. Overall, the side effects were very mild.

I'm a 40 year old male in decent shape.

31 year old slightly overweight male here - had a similar reaction. Tylenol the next day helped. Feeling good now. The first page of this thread scared me more than it needed to.

Random question, is it ok to workout after being vaccinated? Have an appointment scheduled to get the J&J vaccine Wednesday am. My training schedule has an hour swim during lunch and then running 12 miles that afternoon

Yes, thankfully things started improving Monday morning and have been steadily getting better since. The swelling and redness are almost gone now, and my arm only hurts if touched/bumped.

Great to hear!

I got mine at 545p yesterday. So far so good. Very mild headache and injection site soreness, can't complain.

So I wouldn't recommend doing this. Felt bad pretty early into the run, knew it wouldn't be fun. About 4 miles in I had really tight and heavy legs, a noticeable headache and nausea. Roughed it out for as long as I could but quit after 9 miles and walked the mile home. Started getting chills when I got home and had a fever a little over 100. Feel better today, no fever, nausea, or headache. Feel a little groggy and my whole body is worn out and sore.

I'd agree here. got mine yesterday at 9AM, had a very normal day, worked out a little but felt off then about 9PM felt the same as you, groggy and whole body is worn our/sore. low grade fever of 99.5 and some light chills. today fever, nausea and headache are low if any, but still groggy and sore.

Had mine yesterday about 4pm. Mids 30s and in good shape. No side effects so far. Not even injection site soreness. Honestly didn't even feel the vaccine go in.

Will update if this changes.

Quick update: Zero side effects at all!

Thanks! Shot was wed evening. Extremely mild all around.

Arm slightly sore, lower back pain and lethargic for half a day but more of a nuisance if anything.

All gone now.

Updated 4 days post shot:

  • Symptomless for 24 hours
  • Felt very tired for 6 hours Easter afternoon like my body was fighting off getting sick.
  • Back to 100% after that.

53. Good health which means not a fatty, diabetic, high blood pressure or other fatty related issues. Work out 3 days a week with a trainer (30min) and walk dogs daily. Nothing crazy. Drink almost nightly, but not more than one glass of wine or scotch.

Got shot Friday at 11:45 am. Zero drama or symptoms. Arm felt like I got shot. Almost nothing of consequence.

Got J&J at 2:30 on Tuesday (6th). By midday Wednesday was getting aches all over the body, particularly the legs. It wasn't awful. Woke up this morning (Thurs) and the body aches were gone but the arm I got the shot in was sore. Now everything is fine (Thurs evening). Really glad to have this behind me.

Got J&J yesterday at about 2pm. No side effects except very minor headache last night. I work from home but felt fine today, arm is a little sore but only if I press down where the shot was even. Tonight another mild headache but 2 ibuprofen knocked it out. Other than that no fever or any cold symptoms. I'm 47

Got J&J at 10am yesterday.

Yesterday:
during day I felt great, slight should soreness.
By 6 pm on I couldn't decide if I was more tired than normal or if it was mental.
By 8pm I was noticeably tired. Went to bed at 8:45.

Last night: had a fever from about 9pm until midnight, couldn't sleep, had chills and was achy. Took Tylenol at midnight. Finally slept after that.

Today: feeling noticeably better his morning, not quite 100%. I bet by lunch I feel 100%.

Got my J&J shot at 3pm today. Feel fine so far, except shoulder a little stiff. Sorry if this has been asked before or if this is a stupid question, but if someone has a strong reaction to the shot is it positively correlated to how they might have reacted to getting the virus itself?

5pm the next day: feel tired, have joint pain, and maybe a slight fever. Just took some Aleve and Z quill. Hopefully I wake up tomorrow feeling better.

Got mine at 8:00 am this morning. Threw up at 10:00 am but that was from taking vitamin D and zinc on an empty stomach to wart off potential side effects. Just ate lunch, taking the d and zinc now to combat side effects.

Got mine at 10am this morning. Immediately my arm was hot and burning where she stuck me. I thought oh crap, this is gonna suck but after a couple of minutes felt fine. Arm is sore now but not bad. Have had an annoying little headache most of the day and generally feeling tired but I don't feel "sick" by any means. I think I'll sleep great tonight.

Update: about an hour after my initial post I started having chills and ran a low grade fever of 99 for a few hours. Fever broke around 11 and slept through the night. No fever this morning just tired.

Hey 98Ag99Grad, I'm an 99Ag00Grad. Good username choice.

Wife and I got it 11AM Thursday
later afternoon headache, starting of some fatigue. Little arm soreness.
took a couple Tylenol, once before bed and once during night
a little tired, feeling warm, and headache at 645AM, got moving and by 8:00 am feeling much improved

Basically it was kind of like a little hangover with no stomach issues, or the feeling of coming down with the flu only 1/4 of the way. Not bad at all honestly.

Will update if any symptoms return, but overall worth it.

Update 2PM Friday - the fatigue kind of comes and goes, went for a walk after lunch. Now feeling a little achy, but nothing to worry about. I would consider this similar to coming down with an illness and fighting it off.

Got shot 21 hours ago. No symptoms but did wake up with some muscles slightly sore... but I attribute that to normal middle age..

Update 24 hours- no fever but light soreness still and light fatigue setting in, no plans today so relaxing in bed and popped and extra strength Tylenol

Update 48 hours - 100%...
