Drama Queen much? No one is "permanently damaged" because they are masking and wiping things down. Take this kinda bs to the Politics board.

The permanent damage to children by covid hysterics is staggering.

I saw people doing this well before Covid times. Lots of people carried disposable placemats with them, freaked out every time their kids touched a doorknob, sanitized all the surfaces, sanitized all the skin. This really isn't necessarily a Covid thing. But blame away if it makes you happy.
I promise you over 50% (and i am using a low number) of what you see that is "abnormal" behavior related to masks, wiping down, bathing in hand sanitizer etc is DIRECTLY related to COVID fear.

My co-worker, a highly respected individual in a fortune 100 company, just stopped wiping down all his groceries last month.

Another co-worker, even higher up, STILL QUARANTINES MAIL FOR 5 DAYS!

This deases is creating a near mental illness and irrational behavior towards sickness.

That's absolutely insane. Didn't the data show almost a year ago that the virus died inside like 90 seconds when exposed to sunlight and in just minutes when outside a human host (ie- on mail, groceries, etc)?

Yes.

People...highly educated college people live in a world of fear from the constant messaging. It is sad.

The one positive I have seen over the past few months since everyone in our company ahd to return...i can tell those two employees are actually relaxing a bit on masks. I honestly hope by being around me and others they will soon realize they wont die not wearing a mask and that simple measures like washing your hands etc are more than enough to cover any material risk...

My MIL used to spray the bottom of her shoes with Lysol when she would get home. I told her it wouldn't be an issue if she stopped licking her shoes. She has gotten a little better, no longer wipes down her groceries or her mail.

I thought my sister, lots of friends, people at church, etc., were overreacting about germs and wiping everything down 23 years ago when I had my first child. I didn't carry disposable placemats, hand sanitizer, table wipes, or any of that. People acted shocked. I just went on with my life and didn't freak out about all the germs. I didn't care what they did even though I found it odd. I sure didn't feel the need to tell a bunch of strangers about it.

Good grief. There were plenty of germaphobes before Covid. You have no idea what kind of people they were two years ago.
You do you and talk crap about people you don't know. Hopefully that relieves some of your sadness.
There were germophobes then and now, but COVID has led to an increase in new ones (I would bet) and heightened fear for those that already were.

So yeah, COVID/the CDC, Fauci, etc. gets some blame.

There are definitely some damaged minds out there right now. No one is qualified or not to say who might be permanently damaged because of it, or even defined what permanent damage is. If someone is overly cautious to the detriment of living their life as fully as they can all for no real added safety benefit, I'd call that permanent damage.

You folks sure do care a lot about what others do. I think I might start wiping random stuff down to trigger some of you.
Fine by me. As long as I can sneeze near you without you breaking down in tears and calling 911
