Didn't see this posted but wanted to make sure it was shared here to help pass along the official narrative.

The NYT article makes it seem as though Faucci is saying that masks will be required during flu season but to his credit he just said that people may elect to wear them during flu season. But the official narrative from the media is that we should continue to wear masks during flu season since we eradicated the flu this year.

Masks work and if masks aren't working it's because people aren't wearing masks because masks work. That simple sentence refutes the mountains of real world evidence that mask mandates accomplished nothing but scare people and harm children

Now I know Fauci is full of ***** He knows masking was not the cause of the "vanishing flu". The science is clear with regard to masking and the flu. From a meta analysis of studies on the CDC's own website: "In pooled analysis, we found no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks (RR 0.78, 95% CI 0.511.20; I2 = 30%, p = 0.25)". What a tool.

You're in SoCal, right? I went hiking in Joshua tree back in December and picked up a couple paper and cloth masks on the trails.

We've gone from a no mask society where you could see everyone's face to one where half the people are wearing masks like we are some polluted third world country. I was in one of the College Station HEB's yesterday and a lady about my age was not only wearing a mask but plastic gloves, too.

That's not who we are as a country. Well, not what we used to be. Now it's almost the norm to wear a mask and not see faces, make eye contact, recognize when someone is smiling.

It's cold and goes against every cultural norm for all of us. So yeah, the longer the resistance to ditch the faux protection (because it's not like we are all wearing surgical grade products), the tougher it will be to get back to the way it was. It's not going to happen.

The government and media will keep scaring the **** out of people, especially those who can't think and make choices for themselves. The government wants to "save" us. **** them, they just want to be so big we have to rely upon them forever.

Not trying to start a fight, seriously, but can you not tell when someone is smiling at you even with a mask on?

I can tell without any problems at all. Kids can tell. I was making faces with a young toddler a few days ago and the interaction felt pretty normal. She laughed and smiled and interacted just like she would have if I wasn't wearing a mask.

I hate masks. I'm tired of washing them. I'm tired of remembering to take them with me. I'm ready for them to be gone, but in no way do I think our society has become cold and void of interactions. I'm not sure where that's happening.

As soon as one "accepts" masks as a normal daily thing, they'll be around forever. You can't tell me it's the same as it was before.

I disagree as well. I, oddly, have been having trouble looking people in the eye when they are wearing a mask. Part of that may be masks make me extremely uncomfortable and even causes me a little anxiety seeing them on others. The one time I kind of wore one in a store, I noticed that I kept lowering it every time I talked to or looked at my 1 year old....just without thinking felt the need for him to see my mouth and facial expressions.

If a kid was acting and responding to you normally, I think it is because masks are perfectly normal in their young world...which is a tragedy!

disagree completely. Our school district dropped masks right after Abbott announced in March that the statewide mandate was over. The day it changed, we had tons of teachers on social media and some others I saw in person who couldn't believe how different it felt to see faces. It is dehumanizing and a real mind screwing when you can only see eyes.

Seems to me this forum has run its course. It's nothing more then a second venue for the politics board folks to push their opinions.

Thankfully, the country seems to have handle on Covid 19 with the vaccine.

We don't need another anti mask, Covid is the flu, vaccines are bad thread. Take it to the politics board if you feel the need to continue to fan the flame.

Its felt great going to the store or restaurants the last few weeks and not wearing a mask. What's even better is fewer and fewer people are being seen wearing them in my area. I was carrying a mask with me in my pocket and putting it on if there was a sign on the door. Now I just ignore the sign and leave the mask in my pocket unless requested to put it on. So far I have not once been asked to put on my mask. The world just feels like a cold, dark, impersonal place with all the masks. People have finally had enough and that couldn't make me more happy.

exactly. And I've been arguing this for a long time. I said at the beginning they were likely to have either little to no benefit, but likely won't be a strong variable to stopping this thing. When 97% of aerosols get through even the best of masks, you just can't convince me that's enough to make a real difference in most situations.

But the world became a more somber, darker experience with them on to me and many others. The little benefit they MIGHT have provided (real world data leans towards no benefit, but I'll give it some credit) was not worth the cultural shock, and gets smaller by the day. yet you have some continue to double and triple down on them, even though in a completely unvaccinated crowd, you couldn't find a strong enough correlation to show they made a difference. Post vaccine, they are even more useless and obsolete at best even for the biggest mask supporter.

Sure, try it for a few weeks when we were spiking. That was one thing. But when more and more data came back that they weren't really helping as much as some had hoped, it was no longer worth it, and then it became a religion to wear them any and everywhere you went without questioning it.

I do think it's time to have the national discussion as to when will be getting rid of masks. Not talking about threads here. But you have to admit that our leaders could at least start the discussion.

The official narrative is that this board is for those who believe the official narrative. Ever since staff told me this in a TexAgs Moderation Warning email I have tried to only post official narrative information here. This is why I always label my posts as "official narrative" and provide a link to back it up. I don't want to be confused with offering up opinions or conjecture and risk a ban.

Feel free to post non official narrative topics at your own risk.

I did take offense to Bayfan accusing me of fanning flames. I'm trying to do the opposite to keep this board on track with its purpose.

This is all so confusing. I thought since Bayfan's post said "in reply to Coolerguy12" that it was a reply to me. I will admit that this whole "official narrative" thing is new to me so I appreciate you guys bearing with me on it. I obviously have a lot to learn.

What you wanna bet? No way they'll be around forever. That's fearmongering. Look at how quickly we've seen their use drop off in metro areas. If everyone would get on board with vaccination, they'd disappear even faster.
