The worst covid case I have seen was a 50 y/o American male who was traveling in Belgium. Took a taxi. The driver was coughing and told him as he dropped him off "sir I may have covid." He came back to the states and was ill in 5 days. Dead with fulminant multi organ failure 5 days later. Ominous. Stay away from the Belgian strain.

Worst case I saw was a 50yo hispanic male who caught COVID from his son who returned from traveling to Florida. (we suspected, but did not confirm, it was the Brazilian strain). Progressively worsened over a week in the ICU. Coded twice after we intubated him and then coded twice again later that night before we finally called it. His son was inconsolable when I went out to inform the family. Worst night of work in my life.
