I was scheduled to fly back to Texas for the first time in a year to see my family but tested positive hours before the flight. I planned on getting the J&J vaccine while I was in the states. I'm not sure what will happen now. Very disappointed.
Being out of country (I assume by "while I was in the states") limits access to vaccine.agsalaska said:

Why did you wait so long.
That sucks. He should get it by being an American, no matter where he is.AgResearch said:Being out of country (I assume by "while I was in the states") limits access to vaccine.agsalaska said:

I'm serious. If there was ever time to be powerful as a country now is good.

I live in Colombia. This was going to be my first opportunity to get the shot. I can't believe I made it through all this only to test positive 24 hours before I was finally going to get the vaccine.
Not saying this isn't true but it probably sucks more that he isn't going to see his family.SoupNazi2001 said:
No need for the vaccine anymore. Natural immunity is better anyway.
100 observed cases out of 10 tens of millions of vaccines. His odds are worse driving I-35 to Austin.01agtx said:
FDA added a Guillain -Barre warning to the J&J shot today, so maybe it was a blessing in disguise that you didn't get it.

Based on those findings, researchers suggested that immunity might last for years, possibly a lifetime, in people who were infected with the coronavirus and later vaccinated.

Recent study says getting fully vaccinated with Moderna or Pfizer after recovering from infection (I think the recommended time to wait is like 90 days?) might give you a lifetime of immunity. Promising stuff.Quote:

Well immunity might last for a lifetime just from previous infection. It is pretty much there from the first SARS virus in 2002. Won't know for a long time but I feel no need to get a vaccine when my infection was no big deal.

Sorry OP. That really sucks. I am assuming you were just testing in order to fly? Any symptoms?
Well at least your not very sick. For what it's worth.TXCityAggie said:agsalaska said:

Yep...took the test at the airport before the flight out. I have very light symptoms.

This would cause an absolute uproar for the citizens of the countries these embassies are in.3rd Generation Ag said:
Get well. I am sort of surprised we are not making shots available to citizens at embassies around the world.

Why do you need a vaccine after having Covid? That would be like wearing a condom after having a vasectomy.
This is completely wrong and I just wanted to make sure that people understand this is wrong.
The recent Nature article on the other thread (among other research) makes it clear vaccine immunity is superior to the "natural" immunity from the virus itself. It's exhausting having to correct this misconception over and over.
Some countries require you to quarantine on the way back in.agsalaska said:
Why don't you get to the US as soon as possible. Isn't that the goal?
You can get the vaccine here the day you land no matter who you are. Then worry about the future.
