One of the biggest sources of misinformation there is out there.

At the same time, it still serves as a valuable tool to know who should not be taken seriously about anything ever unless they have publicly apologized for being wrong about everything and helping to wreck millions of lives by pushing all of the false narratives they bought up.

Interesting that supposed conservatives want to ban "misinformation".

I think that not only does science now show that our reaction to covid was worse than covid itself, but that at some point those holding on tightly to the narratives of why shutdowns, masking and protocols were called for just need to take the L here. I get hindsight is 20/20 (which ironic given the year in question) and taking a little time to make some assessments were understandable, we knew relatively early on that opening up almost fully with a focus on encouraging the most vulnerable to limit activities would have been the best route, that masking was unproven at best in a non sterile environment and that given the risk to the average person, the economy and people's mental health should have been the priorities.

What else am I missing? There was a lot of misinformation and a well established and proven record of a concerted effort by the CDC, those in establishment and the media to silence anyone in science questioning their tactics. And there were plenty of reasonable reasons to question what was being called for. So, ya, there was a lot of misinformation. We just went too far with this particular situation, this particular virus. Could there be a situation where a more deadly virus would warrant all of the protocols? Hell ya. But this became a political power hold. Worse yet, the very institution of science is now not trusted b/c of terrible messaging, promoting all this misinformation. It is a case study of what not to do in a crisis. I think most on both sides of the aisle have come around to understand this. We failed the covid test. We have to learn to do better, if God forbid this ever happens again. This was an absolute train wreck we will pay for for years to come. It didn't have to be that way....

Oh, and ya, there just isn't a need for a Covid Forum on Texags, in my opinion. Not anymore...There was a time and I love that Texags can be a place to come to to find information on things other than A&M athletics. It is a great tool in that regard. But given the triggering nature of the subject on both sides and the fact that the threat overall is so much lower now, the best move would likely be to take the thread down.

Nobody's arguing with you on all of that. What you wrote has nothing to do with banning what you consider to be misinformation and stifling free speech.

We conservatives are now the champions of free speech. It's only free speech if you allow it even when you disagree with it.

Why is it triggering? On one side are a minority of people who become unhinged at the sight of someone wearing a mask. On the other side are a minority of people who think it's the new Black Death.

In the middle are people who might appreciate what info, data etc., treatments that come out.

But I would have no issue with merging it into the Health & Fitness forum at this point. Seems like that would satisfy all.

It is triggering because the response (from whomever) was soooo poor and because people who doubted it were told people wish they would get Covid, that they were selfish, that they had to get an unproven vax to keep their job, etc etc. Meanwhile, our children who had zero risk suffered the most…..like my 18 year old son. And some people, like me, could not visit loved ones on their deathbed……all for virtue signaling and unproven (NOW COMPLETELY DISPROVED) "science". Not to mention the selective decisions on who could stay open during stay at home. Churches….no, Antifa-led rioters….get 'er done.

What valuable information on this flu are you waiting for?

This board absolutely, either directly or indirectly, supported that!

Your second sentence confuses me and I had to edit the post.

What valuable information are you waiting on?

Merging it would probably be the best plan. I think most people go there anyway at this point...

Umm...any dissenting views and perspectives, which were often correct, were actively censored. And very often the poster was given a ban. So yes, this board actively contributed to misinformation and the censoring of accurate information, all while hiding behind the "trust the science" bs that they spewed to somehow provide their own credibility for what ended up being a bunch of made up "science." Any information that contradicted the acceptable talking points were met with a very quick erasure of said post (and often poster). The end result is that since one entire perspective was removed from this board, it left the sense that it was a universally agreed-upon viewpoint. When half the posts get removed, people actually believe that what is allowed to remain is the actual truth. Very similar to the msm/social media at the time (Before Musk, or BM ). Or goebbels. Weird, no?

Id call that supporting of that, yes.

Correct, many who posted possible treatments or realistic infection numbers got banned. Those who spoke out against the vax or masks got banned. Many other examples.

If you pointed that out, or asked for an apology or any sort of explanation, you get permabanned. So I guess that counts.

Tread lightly. By pointing out that mods banned you, and mentioning their obvious aggressive censorship starting in 2020, they are likely to silence you again. Don't ask me how I know...

What I REALLY want done with this forum is a resurrection of deleted posts complete w/ metadata as to which mod ID performed the delete and when.

It should serve as a time capsule.
