The finale… Wow. 4 months of Aggie volleyball and in the blink of an eye. The last game of the regular season is here. While there is still lots of volleyball left to be played. The regular season finale is upon us. 12 noon, at home. Although it won't be the last game for us in Reed this season (wink wink), let's go show our team some love.
The Ags look to make it 10 straight wins. The SEC runner ups have been on a heater since we lost to #2 Kentucky. 6 sweeps in our 9 game winning streak. Only one team stands in the way between us and our 22nd win and from finishing with an astounding 14 wins in conference play. That is the Georgia Bulldogs.
Georgia currently sits at 6th in the conference standings. A loss for them may end their tournament hopes are they are sitting right outside the bubble. A loss may put them for a rematch against us in the conference tourney after our double bye as we are set to face the potential 7 seed if all is chalk. Georgia will be desperate and will give us everything they have.
What they have is a strong block, one of the best in the conference along with us. Kendal Kemp is a great blocker for them and stands at 6'6. Their other top blockers are 6'5 and 6'2. If we're not passing and setting well we'll be hitting into a wall. However, their back row play isn't the best. If we have a great first touch and use some tempo, we'll keep their block from asserting itself and we'll find some open lanes. They'll have to pick their poison, but I see us distributing the ball all around to keep them hesitant.
Offensively they run everything through Bianna Muoneke. She spent her freshman season as an outside hitter here for the Aggies before departing to Athens. This season she's really taken up a larger role in the UGA offense and is someone they try to set often. She has a powerful swing, but isn't always super efficient. We can get our block on her and if we slow her down, Georgia struggles to score.
As for us, we seem to be rolling. Momentum is on our side, hitting has been great, blocking has been dominant, serving has been a bit tougher. Jamie Morrison and staff have this team playing hot at the most important time of the season. I want to see us stay dominant and enforce our will. I want to see our block really shine at home in front of the 12th man. I want to see some tough servers and over 5 aces. I want to see us be us and enjoy our last regular season match of this 2025 season.
One last match before post season play. Let's get a quick and easy win. We are fighting for our resume as well which may have us locked into a 2 seed in the tourney, but nothing is promised. On the other hand, Georgia is playing to keep their ncaa tournament hopes alive, sadly they have to play Texas A&M
