We did it once, let's do it again.
Tonight at 7:30 we'll battle it out in Savannah, Georgia against the orange dweebs in Austin. Much like our football team on Friday, we'll be playing for a spot in the SEC Conference Championship.
Last time we met it was Halloween night and the only frightening thing on the court was our block. It took over the game and Kyndal Stowers and a Ifenna Cos-Okpalla helped us win the first two sets. A dominant first set and a second set that saw us come back down 22-17. We then dropped the next two sets and had trouble slowing down tu's pin hitters, then it all came down to a winner take all fifth set. We really leaned on setting Cos-Okpalla and Stowers in that 5th set and we won the set and the match and sent Reed Arena into a frenzy.
That was our 6th win in our current 11 match win streak. Tu would then get swept by Kentucky a few days later. We earned the second seed and tu the third in this tournament. We swept Vanderbilt despite 15 service errors and tu annihilated Ole Miss in 3 sets setting up tonight's matchup.
We'll need to have our block strong to slow down their explosive offense. They'll try to run most of it through Torrey Stafford and Cari Spears. They haven't been a tough serving team like the past. We'll need to serve tough and hopefully not have as many errors as we did last night. They really focused on stopping Lednicky last time we played so we're going to need Stowers, Hellmuth, and our middles to have a great match as well. We'll see how they adjust after we defeated them.
Tonight will be another tough test, we won't have the same 12th man behind us that we did on Halloween. Tu looked a lot better than we did yesterday, however we have been playing some really great volleyball heading into the postseason. Two giants clashing. A win here would be enormous and lock us into a 2 seed in the NCAA tourney, although we could still be a 2 seed regardless of the result.
Today will be a precursor for Friday. Jamie believes we are one of the best teams in the country, a win tonight will prove just that. It's going to be an emotional and intense back and forth affair. Let's take it to them once more and prove how special this Texas A&M Volleyball team is. Let's BTHO tu!!!
