That's why LSU regular VB is so great, right?
our coach is far better.
Just bc one program has an advantage with facilities or complementary beach volleyball team, doesn't by default make them better. But I didn't need to explain that to you ..
Lack of beach volleyball obviously doesn't help. Akin to tennis not having indoor courts. And yet a&m still won a national championship in each. It can be overcome through great coaching. Also, beach volleyball is an up and coming sport.(Still) Not having it down the road will mean more then than now.
Having beach volleyball would also help with building our fan base.. which would help indoor as well..
Edits- suck at typing on my phone.
First of all let's not get it twisted. I fully agree that having a beach team would be a positive for indoor volleyball (and to a lesser extent, Aggie Athletics in general) for all the reasons you and others have mentioned. Also, I think of Achane and maybe he doesn't come here if we don't have T&F and there has been some crossover in other sports as well, but...
Not having beach is
totally different than tennis not having indoor courts. That is a huge disadvantage in THAT sport. We are the only SEC school that does not have indoor courts. It would be more like T&F not having an indoor facility, which is something that would directly impact their success in their own sport.
But like you said, that didn't stop tennis from winning a championship and since they were not rewarded with the basic minimum expectation of an SEC program by having indoors built (which is a one-time 25-30 year expense), I doubt the volleyball natty is going to move the needle enough to make an even bigger big yearly ongoing expense.
The bottom line is that Aggie Athletics is a business and our "POSIWID" to make money. If these money-losing sports can win national championships with what they've got, there's very little incentive (from a business perspective) to give them more.
