I need someone to explain the difference between the professional leagues please.
PVF (rebranding as MLV) is your typical pro sports league. Teams are independent owned like other pro sports leagues. Includes a draft, etc.
League one. LOVB Pro is a pro league offshoot of League One, which a big community of youth volleyball clubs. They have a built in fan base of the local kids involved in the local clubs. Players on the pro teams are also involved in the youth programs to some extent. Teams are/were owned by the league, but they are bringing in local investors to buy/invest in individual teams. Players are signed to the league and then assigned to the team, so no draft. Also, teams can't cut players.
Athletes unlimited is athlete driven/owned, like other AU sports. Basically a bunch of athletes coming together to play tournaments. Usually several weeks of tournaments at one location. Teams are basically mixed up/re drafted every week.
Each has a very different model, so consolidation would be interesting. Although, I'm not sure it is necessary yet. Both LOVB and PVF are actively expanding and the audience is growing.
