Howdy my fellow NCAA Volleyball National Championship Aggies fans and welcome back to another spring match game thread. The spring season for our Aggies concludes this weekend in Dallas, Texas. In a great event put on by SMU, the Aggies will be playing two matches in the Dallas Power Invite presented by Kendra Scott.
The Aggies are in a doubleheader beginning with a match against SEC for Oklahoma at 1:30, then a break takes place as Oklahoma takes on LSU, then we are the main event of the evening with a matchup against SMU. The first game before us is SMU vs LSU.
Oklahoma went 16-11 last year, with a 7-8 record in conference play. They weren't an easy out, but never got it going together. This off-season they lost and gained a lot in the portal. 9 of their current 14 are transfer players. They are a new team so it will be exciting to see how they look as well. Their big transfer in the off-season was acquiring Aniya Warren a libero from Wisconsin.
The nightcap will be a rematch against SMU who we played against last week. For some reason the match was only 2 sets which we split. I'm sure Saturday's match will be more of a 3 or 4 set match with the two heavyweights going at it. Also unsure how we have SMU twice this spring and once more in August, interesting for sure.
As for us, it'll be interesting to see who we line up for these two matches. I wonder how healthy are we as well. I'd love to see a full starting lineup against SMU. Last spring we went against SMU and played a lot of our starters those 4 sets. But as always, I trust Jamie Morrison and his staff. They know what they want to see or need to see.
These last two matches are another showcase for our position battles at setter, libero, middle, and opposite. There's still lots of work to be done and so much more volleyball practices to come, but this last spring matches will be something to consider. If you're in the Dallas area head out there and support our girls! It'll be awhile till you get to see this team on the court again!
