Clay Travis discusses Bob Stoops, SEC Network finances

May 10, 2013

Key quotes from Clay Travis interview:

"Bob Stoops' comments show that the SEC is in the mind of all coaches."

"Even Kentucky has gone to five or six bowl games during this period of SEC dominance."

"With the exception of Tennessee, the bottom half of the SEC has seen their programs hit historical highs."

"The SEC Network is going to be owned by ESPN, but the SEC will maintain 100% of the content.

"The SEC is going to get a guarantee from ESPN in the neighborhood of $300M-350M."

"I believe this channel will be producing over a billion dollars a year in revenue over the next decade."

"Stoops is basically saying the SEC is top-heavy which isn't true. Even if it was, the goal is to be at the top right?"

With coach dub on this one. Dismissing the scripture or ridiculing the Bible is something as a believer that I cannot support. I liked his writing but will not read his articles anymore.

For those not Christian I understand your view. For those claiming to be Christian but supporting clay, well I think they need to reevaluate their belief system. Christianity isn't something you turn off and on and decide when it works for you, nor do you only practice your religion in church one hour a week. You should walk with The Lord daily. He is your best friend. If someone was insulting your best friend, dad. Mom, or wife I would hope you would be offended and defend them.

Aggie != Christian.

The world is a pretty big place. There is plenty of room for a wide range of opinions. Trying to censor opinions that differ from your own is not very Christ like.

How about some Matthew 7:1-5 or Luke 6:37 up in here?

That is your argument for this discussion. I am going to guess you are joking .

There is nothing wrong with being open minded or accepting of others, as long as they are not insulting your God. There are ways to express oneself without discounting what someone else believes.

I don't think anyone is judging, just defending what they believe in.

Take this BS to the "Religious Fanatical Losers" Board!

If your comments are not football related, don't make them here! This is the football board!

Coach Dub: It doesn't matter how big or little your words are. Your arrogance is disgusting! We ALL get what you are saying and don't agree with your use of this forum to discuss these views. It's inappropriate and has a place. Just not in a place where I come to read about our beloved Aggies!!!! That is HIS blog and this is not YOUR site or even YOUR forum. Get a clue and check the ego at the door.

And this is what is wrong with America. Coach dub was upset that a blogger/football writer has insulted his God with his belittling remarks. If the football writer stuck to football no problem. Coach dub was offended and rightfully stuck up for his God.

Coach dub didn't bring religion into a football board but the writer did by making an unnecessary jab at Christianity.

This thread and the yelling and hate spewed toward one man for standing up for his belief and saying his religion was slandered in a football article is why America is headed down the path we are. There is no reason for Clay to make a cooment about any religion when writing about football. The staff at Texags is close to clay and shows support toward him with radio interviews and posting his articles. Which they have every right to do because this is their business. Coach dub and others like myself have to decide if we want to contribute to an organization that doesn't respect our religion since in essence Clay is a reflection upon them. That's it, no reason to grab pitchforks and mob on Christians. Everything we do, say, act, and think is known by God almighty. To ignore insults to him on a football board is like when Peter denied knowing Jesus 3 times then the rooster crowed. Can't be a follower of Christ during times of social convenience.

he should be directing his arguments towards clay's website, where the remarks were made. not texags.

the comments weren't made anywhere near texags, so actually, coach dub did bring religion into the football board.

Schmendler and the other atheists on this thread should acknowledge that non-football topics appear hourly on the TexAgs football board. To extend this, they should also acknowledge their agenda is to drive the God out of all aspects of their lives. That is their choice, as is how far they will go in persecuting Christians.

When we say the Pledge of Allegiance in America, we still say 'One nation, under God.' Maybe that's why many schools have stopped reciting the Pledge every day.

You also dont hear the Battle Hymn of the Republic much anymore. I recall KBTX used to play it every morning around 1 before signing off. "Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord" isn't quite as fitting in context of a 'New World Order'.

Clay Travis is an insightful college football analyst who occasionally feels the need to 'make his bones' as an atheist. It's like Erin Burnett on CNN feeling the need to tell the world she got married down at the courthouse rather than in church. Clay and Erin want the best career outcomes possible.

These days, refuting God is good for a media career.

The Jesus who loves me, tells me to love people and live my life in a fashion that expresses his love for everyone...

At no time does he tell me to advocate a dogmatic approach to life... He simply tells me to love my brother as he loves me...

Therefore, I love Clay. He may be wrong or misguided in his beliefs, but I still love him...

Not that it really matters, but I don't see anywhere in that article where he says he's an atheist.

Clay is a funny guy just trying to stir up some views and get his name out there. Mission accomplished, as evidenced by this thread.

Thanks Dub for ruining another thread. Go somewhere else if you don't like it. Why should Texags make decisions based on your beliefs? The arrogance of Christians like you is nauseating, and I am a christian.

Clay never insulted "your God," he insulted the book you are using to justify treating your fellow human beings as second class citizens.

Maybe if you spent more time dwelling on "love your neighbor as yourself" and less time extracting obscure versus in an attempt to justify your hatred, people would spend less time judging your holy book.

I'm a believer, but it's people who choose hate over love that make it difficult for me to call myself a Christian.

All of you Clay Travis defenders need to answer 2 questions:
1) Please tell me what hateful statement I made toward homosexuals?
2) Would you still defend Clay Travis if he had said the same thing about blacks, hispanics or homosexuals?

Back to the topic, please.

Bob Stoops is clueless. That is all.

Guess I missed the part of the bible where Jesus flipped the bird with a big STFU to Romans, high priests, etc... because they insulted his Father.

Parts of the bible are ridiculous and if you truly believe it is the divine word of God, then you are a person incapable of rational thought.

This thread isn't about A&M Football. Its about Clay Travis's opinions about an Old Rivalry and SEC media revenue.

I also noticed that no one has even attempted to answer either of my previous questions.

His views aren't being forced upon you and when you see his name on here you don't have to click the link. The only links they post on here are relevant to A&M football anyway so by bringing up the other stuff you're really just helping Clay.

coachdub, that's because you are not worth it. Someone had to say it because you are obviously too obtuse to get a subtle hint. Now go do something constructive and leave us alone.
