There was a time when underdog football teams would purposely drain the play clock in an attempt to shorten the game against stronger opponents.
Apparently, those days are gone.
Teams frequently tried to speed up the game against Alabama in an attempt to keep the Crimson Tide from making situational substitutions and taking advantage of their superior depth.
“I think last year just about everybody went no-huddle against us,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said Thursday at the SEC Media Days.
