The Bank of Khris Middleton is now open

Five years, $70 million, with a player option after year four.

That's the report coming out of Milwaukee, where terms have been agreed to after the Bucks made former Texas A&M swingman Khris Middleton their top priority heading into free agency — and for good reason.

Middleton emerged as a formidable defender and also had nine regular-season 20-plus point games on his way to averaging 13.4 for the season. He averaged 15.8 in the Bucks' six-game playoff series against the Chicago Bulls.

He hit multiple game-winners, too, just for fun.

And now he's about to get paid.

The NBA will not allow free agents to sign until July 9, at which point other teams would have a chance to out-bid the Bucks for Middleton's services. In such a case, the Bucks would have three days to match.

For Middleton, who will be entering his fourth year in the league after being a second-round pick out of A&M in the 2012 NBA Draft, it seems the only way is up. Gig 'em, Khris.

That will be a bargain contract when the salary cap increases in a few years to $106 million. Good for Khris for getting paid too.
