Quentin Coryatt discusses 'The Hit', A&M's 2016 defense and more
Key notes from Quentin Coryatt interview
- 'The Hit’ means a lot to me and being a part of A&M football history is very meaningful. It is a memorable play in my life and to bring that back is really special. I am so thankful for all of the support that I had and to be able to share my playing experience with the 12th Man.
- The core group of guys that I came in with were a close-knit unit when I was at A&M. As the years go on that team has become even better friends than we were as teammates.
- I have never spoken to the player who was on the other end of ‘The Hit’. Without Bob Davie and the entire defense, I would never have had a chance to make that play. Anyone else on that defense would have been able to make that hit.
- I cannot take full credit for that hit. My teammates and coaches were an integral part in that moment. We practiced hard and prepared for it and that hit is what resulted from it.
- It put a smile on my face to see this year’s A&M team go and serve in Haiti. Young adults are so impactful on children and when those kids see that these players care about them, it goes a long way.
- For those young men to do what they are doing at this point in their life is amazing. They are truly gifted athletes that genuinely care about people and have great hearts.
- This defense is so exciting. It reminds me of our Wrecking Crew defenses back in the day. They are running around and swarming the football. This defense will have to string together years of great units to really. They are extremely fun to watch play.
- I came to A&M because of the great tradition of defenses that came before me and set the precedent. It is a process to maintain such a strong defense like that.
- Cohesively coaching the players is a key for success and building a strong program. Every aspect of a team has to be unified to create a championship caliber team. This Aggie team has the potential to be a championship team.
