Texas A&M Softball puts Missouri away in five innings, 8-0
The 7th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies made a big statement in their series opener with the Missouri Tigers on Friday night. It was a quick game at the Aggie Softball Complex, with the Aggies run-ruling the Tigers, 8-0, in five innings after a deluge of home runs.
Texas A&M got on the scoreboard quickly with a homerun by Riley Sartain in the bottom of the first inning. The sophomore leads the team in batting average with .446 average. Kristen Cuyos also homered in the bottom of the second to put the Aggies up, 2-0.
The Aggies plated three runs in the bottom of the third with Sartain starting the rally once again. The Aledo native blasted her second homer of the night, a career first for Sartain. After Walters and Hudek get on base, Cuyos knocked an RBI-double into the outfield to bring in Frisch, who was pinch-running for Walters. Samantha Show hit a sacrifice fly out to bring Hudek home making it 6-0.
Vidales and Alderink get on base with back-to-back with singles to start the bottom of the fourth inning. Vidales crossed home plate on an illegal pitch by Parker Conrad, and Alderink scored off a RBI-single from Ashley Walters, extending the lead, 8-0.
Missouri had one last chance in the top of the fifth to score, but went down in order to begin the frame.
Right-handed pitcher, Trinity Harrington, only allowed three base runners over the course of the inning and gave up just two hits. She is now 8-1 with a 0.71 ERA.
A&M and Missouri will be back in action tomorrow at the Aggie Softball Complex with first pitch slated for 1p.m.
