Following an overtime loss to Georgia on Sunday, the No. 16 Aggie women’s basketball team (15-5, 4-2 SEC) was able to get back on track with a lopsided 73-54 road win over Alabama.

The first half saw the Aggies dominate inside behind senior Khaalia Hillsman. A&M kept feeding Hillsman down low and she delivered, finishing with a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Tide managed to keep the game close in the first half thanks to turnovers by the Aggies and the three-point shooting of Jordan Lewis, who finished the game with 17 points and seven rebounds.

Hillsman’s presence inside was still a factor in the second half, and the strong shooting of Chennedy Carter and Danni Williams helped A&M pull away. Carter was able to get to the free-throw line in the second half by attacking the basket and finished with 20 points, seven of which came from free throws. Williams was a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe and finished with 13 points and four assists.

The Maroon and White’s play inside the paint ended up being the difference maker, with the Aggies piling up 36 points in the paint, half of which were scored by Hillsman. Additionally, the Aggies were able to outrebound the Tide, leading to several second-chance opportunities. Jasmine Lumpkin led the team on the boards with 11 rebounds.

Defensively, A&M was able to shut down Hannah Cook after she scored 25 points in a close loss against No. 3 Mississippi State last Sunday. Cook, the team's leading scorer, played 31 minutes but scored only four points against the Aggies.

A&M returns to action Monday night at Reed Arena when it plays host to LSU. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
