The No. 10 Aggie softball team traveled to take on No. 22 Mississippi State in a weekend series. After Friday’s game was rained out, they played a Saturday doubleheader. The Aggies took the first game 3-1 and fell 4-3 in the second game.

The Aggies got on the scoreboard quickly in game one. Keeli Milligan led off with a single to left field. Two batters later and after Milligan reached second on a groundout, Ashley Walters plated Milligan with an RBI-single to right field.

A&M would strike again in the fourth and fifth innings. After Walters reached on an error, Kristen Cuyos would drive her in with an RBI groundout.

In the fifth, Erica Russell drew a walk and a couple batters later; Sarah Hudek drove her in with an RBI double to center field.

The Bulldogs would respond in the bottom of the fourth. Reggie Harrison drove in her teammate Grace Dabb with an RBI groundout.

Trinity Harrington started in the circle for the Aggies in game one and tossed 6.2 innings, surrendering just one run while scattering four hits. After loading the bases, Harrington turned the ball over to Payton McBride in relief — who pitched around the bases-loaded jam to finish off the game.

In the second game, Sam Show got the start in the circle for A&M. Show tossed 2.2 innings, giving up three runs before giving way to Kayla Poynter in relief. Poynter tossed seven innings in relief before she ran out of gas. In the bottom of the 10th and after giving up a single and a walk, Taylor Kelly drew a walk to ultimately give Mississippi State a walk-off win.

The Bulldogs struck first in the bottom of the third inning. Emily Heimberger drove in her teammate Kat Moore with a sac fly. Following the first run, Bevia Robinson was walked home after the sacs were loaded. Montana Davidson was also walked home after a pitch hit her teammate Harrison.

The Aggies would respond in the next two innings. In the top of the fourth, Milligan singled in Show with a hit to shortstop. After loading the bases, Kaitlyn Alderink scored after Hudek drew a walk.  Cuyos would tie the game up in the fifth after lacing an RBI double to left field, scoring Kylie George.

The Aggies will return to the diamond Sunday for the series finale. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network +.
