TexAgs and 12th Man Foundation announce new deal

Following the successes of Texas A&M University, the A&M Foundation and the Association of Former Students, the 12th Man Foundation has entered into a new marketing relationship with TexAgs.com, the premier fan website in college athletics.

The relationship will provide 12th Man Foundation donors and TexAgs premium members with a variety of added benefits and deliver increased exposure to both organizations.

“We’re very excited about what this relationship can provide for 12th Man members,” said Miles Marks, President of the 12th Man Foundation. “Our goals in forming this alliance are to reach more people, to grow our membership and to attract more major gifts as more people fully understand the commitment it takes to run a successful athletic program. We are also constantly striving to provide donors with added benefits and access, and we believe we can accomplish all of those objectives with this partnership.”

The partnership has been a long time in the making. Brandon Jones, CEO and president of TexAgs.com, first approached the 12th Man Foundation about an alliance as far back as 2000. At the time, TexAgs was primarily viewed as only an interactive fan message board website. In the years that followed, however, TexAgs has become a multimedia organization that provides its subscribers and users with original content such as news items, written features, recruiting information, video, audio and the latest endeavor, TexAgs Radio.

Jones, along with co-owners Billy Liucci, Hunter Goodwin and Josh Oelze, has hired a number of well-known personalities within the A&M community, such as lead reporter and radio host Gabe Bock, analyst and former basketball player Logan Lee and analyst and former football player Brandon Leone. All have joined Liucci over the last three years to provide TexAgs subscribers with an in-depth and highly informative fan experience. Additionally, the site features a number of regular expert contributors including John Lopez, Jackie Sherrill, Seth McKinney, Terrence Murphy, Jerrod Johnson, Zerick Rollins and Goodwin.

“I am tremendously excited about this relationship with the 12th Man Foundation,” Jones said. “Reason No. 1 is that this is something that I have been working toward for about 11 years. We’ve always viewed the 12th Man Foundation as a direct link to the Aggies’ connection with the athletic department. No. 2, we have a renewed vision of what can come out of this, including what type of content that we can deliver to the Aggie fan. The third thing is where the 12th Man Foundation is going, bringing on a full-time marketing person (Mark Riordan) who is going to be working hard to get the 12th Man brand out there and to make people understand the connection between donors, donations and championships.”

TexAgs The owners' vision for TexAgs continues to grow with the partnership, which will bring innumerable benefits to both parties and, ultimately, Aggies everywhere. {"Module":"photo","Alignment":"right","Size":"large","Caption":"The owners\u0027 vision for TexAgs continues to grow with the partnership, which will bring innumerable benefits to both parties and, ultimately, Aggies everywhere.","MediaItemID":9374}
The marketing relationship involves numerous benefits for both organizations. TexAgs has begun running banner advertisements for the 12th Man Foundation on its home page; the site will also provide a forum exclusively for 12th Man donors, and donors will receive a “12th Man tag,” which identifies them as financial contributors to the foundation of A&M’s athletic success.

The 12th Man Foundation will provide feature stories from 12th Man Magazine for TexAgs’ content, and editor Homer Jacobs and associate editor Rusty Burson will appear weekly on TexAgs Radio. Liucci, who for many years was a major contributor to 12th Man Magazine, will also provide shared content for the 12th Man Foundation.

“This is a groundbreaking union between — in my opinion — the two best outlets for covering A&M athletics,” Liucci said. “From working with the guys who produce 12th Man Magazine and with the relationships I’ve developed with Miles Marks and other staff members over the last 14 or 15 years, I’ve developed a tremendous respect for the 12th Man Foundation and all it represents. I was excited to be able to contribute to the magazine for many years, so from a personal level, I am thrilled for the TexAgs audience and the 12th Man Foundation donors that we can deliver information that is second-to-none. The future possibilities of the partnership are practically endless.”

Indeed, some other possibilities are currently in the works. On a monthly basis, the site receives about 250,000 unique visitors.

“Over the next month, we will probably do about 11 or 12 million page views on our mobile product, which is an amazing amount of traffic,” Jones said. “On our main site, we will get close to 40 million page views, so we are looking at 50 million page views between our two main ways to access the website (in a given one-month period). I don’t think there is any fan site in the country that does anything close to that.”

As such, Riordan, the new vice president of marketing for the 12th Man Foundation, immediately began exploring ways to educate and inform TexAgs.com users about the goals and mission of the 12th Man Foundation.

“We want to hit the 250,000 or more people on their site on a monthly basis on the advertising side,” Riordan said. “But then we want to dive deeper with the people who are premium subscribers, which will involve shared content. That way we can really educate the visitors to TexAgs regarding our needs as an athletic department and a fundraising organization. And hopefully, we can replicate the success of a recent story in 12th Man Magazine that brought in a $1 million gift from Monty and Becky Davis to the Player Development Center.

“We hope to grow the relationship, and there are a number of possibilities we are still discussing. For example, we are working toward providing our new graduates with a premium membership to TexAgs, along with the membership we currently provide to the 12th Man Foundation. It’s an exciting opportunity, and we want to grow our membership bases as much as possible.”

probably a dumb question...but does partnership with the 12th Man limit what you can do in terms of recruiting coverage?

more important, I can't wait to have a 12th man tag!

Texags is great and all, but this is overstating it JUST a bit:

Awesome! Good work!

On a side note..am I the only one that thinks the format of this forum is a little lacking in the feature department? No post notifications, no "User CP" to track posts, no automatically add signature or separate signature area, no avatars, etc. Isn't it about time for an upgrade out of 1999? If I'm the only one I'll be quiet...

Having seen other college football forums of some of our opponents - I have to think the website is pretty near the top.

I'll put it this way, I'm not an A&M fan, or a major fan of an A&M rival, and I spend an inordinate amount of time at this website, because it is incredible.

I generally lurk for months and then spring to life (especially when my schools is about to play A&M) but I visit pretty often, and spend a good amount of time reading many of the boards.

I've attended a Big 10, Big 12 and Conf USA school for various degrees. I love college football and I read all kinds of sites, from BBS to the Blogs that have been coming up. Nothing matches Texags.com that I have seen.

IMO the simplicity is better. When i'm reading boards, I don't want 50 gifs and annoying fonts/colors loading on each page.
