2020 Fort Bend Marshall running back Devon Achane commits to Texas A&M
The Aggies made another key addition to their future roster tonight as 2020 Fort Bend Marshall running back Devon Achane made his verbal pledge to Texas A&M after Marshall’s 32-27 playoff win over A&M Consolidated.
The name of the game with Achane is speed. A top-end competitor for Fort Bend Marshall’s elite track and field team, Achane’s movement on a football field has drawn comparisons to current NFL speed merchants Tyreek Hill and Tarik Cohen and former Aggie greats Dante Hall and Leeland McElroy. A threat to score from anywhere on the field, Achane amassed 47 rushing touchdowns, 13 receiving touchdowns, and 5 return touchdowns during his sophomore and junior years. The scoring hasn’t stopped this season, and Friday night he registered his 100th career touchdown. He’ll be utilized at a multitude of positions in College Station.
Achane’s addition moves the 2020 class to 21 commits overall, and he joins fellow Fort Bend ISD natives Smart Chibuzo (Hightower), Akinola Ogunbiyi (Kempner) and Kenneth Phillips (Bush) as future Aggie footballers.
His junior highlight film is seven-plus minutes of nothing but touchdowns.
Achane chose the Aggies over LSU, Alabama, Houston and Florida State, among others.
We’ll have more analysis and breakdown for TexAgs Premium subscribers, including Ryan Brauninger’s interview with Achane about his decision to become an Aggie.
