Fresh off of a 3-1 win over Texas State and home-court debut, Texas A&M Volleyball (6-1) went back to work early against Northwestern State (6-4). After a career-high night against the Bobcats for the libero Camila Gomez and blockers Makena Patterson and Treyaunna Rush, the Aggies picked up where they left off last night to beat the Demons, 3-0, in game two of the Texas A&M Invitational.

Texas A&M made quick work of the Demons in the sweep. Hollann Hans led the team in kills with 11, while three Aggies finished with seven. Makena Patterson had a team-high six blocks, and three Aggies recorded aces. Texas A&M finished with a .315 hitting percentage with the defense holding Northwestern State to .052.

Set One: Texas A&M 25-23

Texas A&M took set one in a close 25-23 battle. Even with seven tie scores, the Aggies responded and maintained control after the opening points. When it seemed the Aggies were running away with the lead, Northwestern State called a timeout to keep themselves in the game. At set point, Hans recorded her sixth kill to finish off the Demons in the first set. Lauren Davis followed Hans in kills with four of the Aggies’ 13.

Set Two: Texas A&M 25-11

The Aggies jumped out to an early 9-3 lead, quickly forcing the Demons to use both timeouts. Never letting up, the Aggies challenged a close call on a Northwestern State attack, ultimately losing the challenge but remaining in control, 19-7. A&M then cruised to a 25-11 victory to go up 2-0. Set two was a team effort; the dominance on offense allowed multiple Aggies to see time on the court, finishing with a .385 hitting percentage. Patterson led the team in kills with four.

Set Three: Texas A&M 25-17

After a hot 9-4 start, it appeared the Aggies were going to run away with the third set, forcing a Northwestern State timeout. The Demons kept themselves in the game, closing in on the Aggies down 17-14. The Aggies had a response to every Northwestern State rally, closing out the set 25-17 to claim the victory and sweep. Hans added another five kills and Mallory Talbert recorded five, helping the Aggies to a .500 kill percentage.
