Interested in a TexAgs internship in the spring?
At TexAgs, we love the opportunity to work with students who are eager to try their hand at or expand their experience in the world of sports media, and we are currently taking applications for spring semester internships. Applications are open through Monday, November 11, and interviews will begin the following week.
TexAgs hires two kinds of interns: those seeking an internship for credit in their academic program and those not seeking academic credit who are simply interested in experience in our field. For-credit interns are full-time (up to 40 hours a week), and non-credit interns are generally part-time. Both programs are unpaid and designed to benefit students seeking hands-on experience in a competitive field. Part-time interns need to be available for a minimum of ten hours per week. All internships require some evening and weekend work and a full semester commitment.
Most interns get experience in more than one specialty, and you’ll see on the application that we want to know which of the following areas interest you. Please read these descriptions before completing the application. Experience in these areas is a bonus but is not required for you to apply. A willingness and ability to learn quickly is important.
Photo and Video
Assist in shooting photos and highlights at various Texas A&M sporting events, filming and editing interviews and press conferences, and producing special features. Photo and video interns will represent TexAgs on the sidelines and out in the field and will be expected to learn quickly, be dependable, and think creatively.
Writing/Journalism
Work independently or with other team members to cover various sports, including reporting from games, maintaining live threads on TexAgs forums, posting to TexAgs social media accounts and writing game recap stories. Take responsibility for an assigned beat, including updating scores and schedules on TexAgs. Please include two writing samples with your application.
Radio and TV Production
Assist in our daily radio/TV broadcast of TexAgs Radio and other shows or podcasts by doing jobs including, but not limited to: camera operation, live audio engineering, live camera switching, video/audio editing, statistical/ guest graphics, social media sharing and more.
Broadcast and On-air work
Learn various aspects of live broadcast and perform roles surrounding the daily broadcast of TexAgs Radio, including the on-air social center position. Conduct interviews and perform various other reporting tasks on camera.
Sales
The sales internship will allow a developing student to gain first-hand knowledge and experience into the day to day responsibilities of the Director of Sales at TexAgs. This person will help with reports, harness relationships with current advertising partners and develop relationships with new contract holders. The person in this position will also need to be a creative thinker to help develop advertising elements and find new prospects.
