Chennedy Carter, N'dea Jones become first A&M duo to make All-SEC first team
For the first time since the program’s inception for the 1974-1975 season, the Aggie women’s basketball program has two players on the All-SEC first team. Junior guard Chennedy Carter is making her third All-SEC first team in as many seasons, and junior forward N’dea Jones is making her first appearance.
N’dea Jones helped pace the Aggies when Carter missed a stretch of games with an ankle injury. She posted double-doubles in A&M’s first eleven conference games, including three impressive 20-point, 10-rebound performances. She leads the SEC in rebounds per game at 11.7 and is second in double-doubles with 15.
All-American Chennedy Carter leads the SEC in scoring, averaging 21.3 points per game. Her season-high in scoring came just over two weeks ago when she dropped 37 points in the Aggies’ win over Tennessee on February 16. Currently sitting at 1,960 career points, Carter needs just 30 points to become the franchise leader in scoring.
The Aggies secured a bye for the first two days of the SEC Tournament, which begins this week. Texas A&M’s first game is set for Friday at 1:15 p.m. against either Arkansas, Vanderbilt or Auburn, depending on who advances. The game will be televised on SEC Network.
