The following are live, paraphrased notes from head coach Jimbo Fisher's media availability on Wednesday.
- Very proud of this class, but we’re still in the process of adding to this class. There should be more in the next couple of days and into February. Hopefully, it’ll allow us to take those steps to be a championship program.
- It’s been a long time since we went into North Shore. Those kids know how to win championships. To get Shadrach Banks is huge. He’s a very diverse and unique player. I’m very excited to get him.
- I’m very happy with our offensive line, but I’m hoping to still add. Reuben Fatheree is long and athletic. Remington Strickland is back and can move. Trey Zuhn is big and diverse. Matthew Wykoff as well. They can move, and they’re very intelligent. Shemar Turner can dominate the end. He can do a multitude of things. Albert Regis is very athletic as well. Jahzion Harris can run and is extremely athletic. Marcus Burris is physical as well. They can do it all.
- You got to have the recruiting because it’s the future. We’re also in a unique situation, and we have to do a lot. Getting guys on campus is important. We’re trying to focus on the team and on recruiting. You have to burn it at both ends.
- The diversity in the secondary is key because you have to be a positionless player. Dreyden Norwood is a good player out of Arkansas. He played quarterback in high school. Deuce Harmon is very, very fast. He can play offense, too, if he needs to. Tyreek Chappell can run. He had 15 touchdowns as a junior catching the ball. Kendal Daniels is a huge safety who has corner skills too. You can mismatch these guys. Very happy with the size, length and athleticism here.
- Yulkeith Brown has seen A&M on Zoom, but he’s never been on campus. Chappell as well.
- Our recruiting staff did a great job navigating through the pandemic. The kids said they got a lot of information. They did a ton of stuff, and it’s amazing how much you can do these days.
- Going into other states is big. You want to get as many Texas kids as possible. We have done a heck of a job, and hopefully before this class is over, we’ll have even more. People are seeing what we’re building here as well as the education and the quality of people that are here. He’s fantastic.
- Graphics and visuals are huge. Athletes love to see it and they love to see what they’re achieving. Our group does a tremendous job. I’m way behind, but when they show it to me, I’m amazed with it.
- We just got another big commit as Tunmise Adeleye just announced he’s going to be a member of the Aggie family. We’re very happy with that one.
- Matthew Wykoff came to our camp. He has grown into himself. He is a 300-pound guy that carries his weight well. He can play inside and outside. He is a very intelligent football player.
- We have 19 right now. We can sign 25. We will be very selective in how we do and what we do.
- The guys that put their hand in the dirt are huge. The guys that do it are some of the best in the country. Eli Stowers is an outstanding quarterback. He has a great future. Amari Daniels is a fantastic running back. Shadrach is one of the best in the country. Yulkeith is very diverse. Harmon and Chappell make the team better. Fernando Garza is a very good player. Regis as well. Kenneth Phillips as well. These guys can all play.
- When you play both ways, I think it makes you a better player. Playing quarterback gives you even more insight. Dreyden Norwood is a really good player who can play a lot of different positions.
- I thought we got very intelligent football players and guys who love football. When you want to go to the highest level, I need guys who will do all of the little things. They’re fun people to be around.
- When you say things and the things come out, and people get to see that, I think it definitely helps.
