During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Richard Zane joined to take us Around Aggieland and provided updates from the hardwood, the diamond, and beyond following a busy weekend for the Maroon & White.
Women’s Basketball (20-1, 11-1 in SEC play)
No. 5 Texas A&M went on the road to Oxford and took down Ole Miss, 66-55, on Sunday afternoon.
- The win is the Aggies’ eighth-consecutive victory.
- Gary Blair’s program has won at least 20 games for 16 consecutive seasons.
- Kayla Wells led all scorers with 18.
- Zaay Green came off the bench and provided a boost in the fourth quarter, scoring all six of her points in the final frame.
- Ciera Johnson joined the 1,000 point club with a free-throw in the game’s final minute, becoming the 33rd member of the exclusive group in Texas A&M history. She finished with five points.
The Aggies will travel to Tuscaloosa on Thursday night to face Alabama in their penultimate regular-season contest.
- Tip-off between the Ags and Tide is set for 6:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed on SEC Network+.
Men’s Basketball (8-7, 2-6 in SEC play)
Texas A&M was all set to return to the hardwood on Saturday with a limited roster, but a positive COVID-19 test took the Aggies below the SEC-mandated threshold for scholarship players and forced another postponement.
- Saturday’s game with No. 24 Arkansas was postponed.
- Tuesday’s road trip to Kentucky has also be postponed.
The men’s basketball program is currently on pause indefinitely.
- Buzz Williams spoke to the media on Saturday and said he expects the season to continue, and the Aggies will not opt out of the 2021 Southeastern Conference Tournament, which is scheduled to begin on March 10.
Currently, the Aggies’ next game scheduled to be played is Feb. 27 at Missouri. A&M has not played since Jan. 30.
Baseball (1-2, 0-0 in SEC play)
Texas A&M’s season-opening series with Xavier did not go as planned as the Aggies dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday before salvaging the Sunday game.

- Saturday - Game 2: Xavier 2, Texas A&M 0
- Sunday: Texas A&M 15, Xavier 0
The Aggies are back at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park for two midweek games this week.
- Tuesday: Abilene Christian - 6:30 p.m. CT.
- Wednesday: Tarleton State - 6:30 p.m. CT.
- Both games will be streamed on SEC Network+.
Softball (2-2, 0-0 in SEC play)
The Aggies opened their 2021 season this weekend in the Texas A&M Invitational at Davis Diamond, and the tournament concludes on Monday. So far, Aggie softball is 2-2 after splitting doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday.

Standout performers thus far:
- Haley Lee: Crushed FOUR home runs on Saturday, including three in the ACU game.
- Grace Urbie: Pitched five shutout innings in Sunday’s rematch vs. Colorado State.
- Makinzy Herzog: Came one out away from a complete-game shutout vs. Texas Tech before a two-out error in the seventh allowed two unearned runs to score. She also hit a home run vs. Colorado State on Sunday.
The Texas A&M Invitational concludes on Monday as the Aggies face Central Arkansas again.
- First-pitch is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. CT and will be streamed on SEC Network+.
Soccer (8-2, 7-1 in SEC play)
G Guerrieri & Co. began their spring season on Saturday by defeating North Texas, 1-0, in an exhibition match at Ellis Field.
- Barbara Olivieri scored the lone goal in the 16’, unassisted.
- Kenna Caldwell posted the clean sheet, making eight saves in the process.
The Aggies are back in action this weekend with another exhibition match, this time on the road against Baylor. The Ags and Bears kick-off at 5:00 p.m. CT at Waco’s Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field. The match will not be televised.
A&M’s first official match of the spring will be March 14 against Abilene Christian at Ellis Field.
Swimming & Diving
Both the Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving teams are in action this week in the 2021 SEC Championships in Columbia, Missouri, as the event continues through Friday.
The competition began on Wednesday, Feb. 17. The entire event can be streamed on the SEC Network+.
- Men’s Swimming: Tue., Feb. 23 through Fri., Feb. 26
- Women’s Swimming: Wed., Feb. 17 through Sat., Feb. 20
- Men’s Diving: Thur., Feb. 18 through Sat., Feb. 20
- Women’s Diving: Wed., Feb. 17 through Fri., Feb. 19
So far, several Aggies have earned a spot on the podium in their respective events.
- Charlye Campbell became Texas A&M’s first-ever SEC Champion in the women’s springboard.
- Aimee Wilson came in 2nd in the women’s 1-meter dive.
- Wilson also finished 3rd in the women’s 3-meter dive.
- Kurtis Mathews finished 2nd in the men’s 1-meter dive.
- Matthews won the men’s 3-meter dive, becoming just the second Aggie to win back-to-back diving titles.
- Taylor Pike finished 2nd in the women’s 100m fly.
- Pike also finished 3rd in the women’s 200m fly.
- Chloe Stepanek finished 2nd in the women’s 200m free.
Men’s Tennis (5-1, 1-0 in SEC play)
No. 10 Texas A&M defeated Vanderbilt on Sunday, 6-1, as the Aggies opened SEC play on a positive note.
- The Aggies took the doubles point, 2-0
- Valentine Vacherot won his match in straight sets (6-3; 7-5)
- Hady Habib won his match in straight sets (6-3; 6-2)
- Noah Schachter won his match in three sets after dropping the first (5-7; 6-0; 7-5)
- Raphael Perot won his match in straight sets (6-3; 6-0)
- Pierce Rollins won his match in straight sets (6-4; 7-6)
The Aggies are back at it on Tuesday as they host No. 16 Kentucky at 3:00 p.m. CT at the Mitchell-Tennis Center.
Women’s Tennis (6-2, 0-0 in SEC play)
Positive COVID-19 cases kept the Aggies off the court this weekend, but the Maroon & White is scheduled to on Friday, Feb. 26, as they travel to Columbia, South Carolina, to face the Gamecocks. The match begins at 4:00 p.m. CT.
Volleyball (6-4, 6-4 in SEC play)
The Aggies will be back in action next Friday, Feb. 26, as No. 3 Kentucky (12-0) comes to Bryan-College Station for a two-match set.
- Feb. 26: Friday’s match begins at 6:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
- Feb. 27: Saturday’s match begins at 6:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
Track & Field
Texas A&M is off this weekend as the Aggies prepare to run in the SEC Indoor Championships next weekend.
- The three-day competition begins on Thur., Feb. 25 and will conclude on Sat., Feb. 27.
Equestrian (2-3, 1-3 in SEC play)
No. 5 Texas A&M returns to action on Friday, Feb. 27, when the Aggies travel to Columbia, South Carolina, to face the ninth-ranked Gamecocks.
